What did you do to your 996TT today?

997.2 intercooler is precisely 100% the same as the 997.2 GT2RS intercooler. It just sounds way cooler to say you have 997.2 GT2RS intercoolers.
With that said, I ran the 997.2 coolers for many years of hard track duty at 1.3 bar. They shed heat very quickly and are arguably the best bang for the buck as far as intercoolers go for virtually 99% of users. Good for up 600wph or so. Most of the aftermarket stuff is horribly heavy and nothing more than a large heatsink. I think I still have a couple of sets of the 997.2 or shall I say 997.2 GT2RS intercoolers sitting in boxes in my parts stash. I need to post them up for sale when I get around to it.
For applications over 700whp, the new DO88 coolers look promising and probably the best bet on the aftermarket with a legit motorsport type core. For anything above that, you'd need to go with something along the lines of Marston.

The 997.2 are very lightweight at 14 lbs for the pair. My 4.0" Marstons are 19 lbs for the pair. I do not know how heavy the DO88 big pack intercoolers are but it would be nice to know that. The worst intercoolers in my opinion on the aftermarket, besides the typical Ebay China garbage, are the +5" Protomotive intercoolers. These weigh 40 lbs for the pair based on the info on their website. I've seen these personally and on top of the weight issue, the quality of the cores is rather poor. Again, it's very very hard to improve on the 997.2 overall for a vast majority of applications.

All of their products look to be good quality. I wonder if their plenum actually is an improvement, it appears to have more volume than the IPD version.

This was not available when I did the IPD plenum years ago. The DO88 part certainly appears to be of much better quality and they use proper aluminum motorport type fittings vs. the brass plumbers fitting used on the IPD plenum. I wouldn't put those fittings on a lawnmower. With that said, I doubt the performance will be any different as both use the 74mm TB and the inlet / outlets are the same exact diameter. For a mostly stock car, I would not go to the trouble of swapping out the OE plenum. We tested the IPD one and it gave a slight increase in power above 6800 and a loss of midrange. With that said, the DO88 plenum certainly appears to be a very nice part.

Did some digging, an old post from do88 indicate the original big pack to be 13 lbs per side, so this means the new ones are 20 lbs each... no thanks.. .
