I paid my car off today. Purchased last August at an awful interest rate. I made large payments to knock it out by drawing down my savings account. I hope to get the title in hand soon. Cheers!

Same!

It reminds me where I was at the time: in high school, driving the 996TT in Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed (released in 2000, so the 996TT was the top car in the game) with my dad on our "simulator" setup consisting of a steering wheel clamped to his office desk.

Have wanted one ever since.

Congrats - I have always found that I like my cars a lot more when they are paid off.

Thank you all very much. Definitely a load off the stress level to knock out the note and start putting money back in savings. 7.5% loan vs 4.5% at the bank. No brainer.

That promo video was outstanding Carlos!

Congrats on getting the car paid off QwikKotaTX, I hate having a car payment.

I haven't had any cars payments in at least 20/25 years! I do not "miss" them that's for sure. Congrats on paying off that loan. In fact it's amazing to me that you were even able to secure a loan on a 20 year old car! Good for you @QwikkotaTX. One less thing to deal with $.

In other car foible and related news, I recently ordered some parts from Rock Auto ( anytime i think I'm "saving" money I usually end up not ) and they sent the wrong part! although it was listed as being the proper part(s). They immediately sent replacements which were ALSO WRONG! The only cool part of this process is they send out a replacement the moment they see the tracking number activated on the RMA which is self generated on their antiquated web site.

The "bad" news is - There are no humans or "normal" C/S assistance, and the entire site is web based only and the site appears as if it was created with 1996 web technology. They don't even have a PHONE number a customer can call.

Never again, and caveat emptor! Time is money, and I lost both.

I have found that Rock Auto is awesome for parts for "run of the mill" cars that are at least 10 years old (Civics, 4Runners, F150s, etc.). Not so much for more specialized cars like ours. However, I did get brake rotors for my 996 through them without issue.

Funny, their pull down menu for "brand of car" lists cars I've never even heard of!
But as you say, for 'basic" stuff and brands they are definitely worth a look for stuff they can't mis-label!

I also kinda sorta like Rock Auto, but have been burned a couple of times with incorrectly listed parts. In particular, they seem to have difficulty differentiating from 996 Turbo and 996 non Turbo parts.

If you know how cross reference the manufactures Rockauto sells the same OEM manufactured parts as a Porsche dealer. OEM spark plugs, coils, ignition switches, fuel pumps, etc are all available at a huge discount.
