I did mine with the engine out of the car. They had been broken for a while so perhaps it does not really matter.
Perhaps if the turbos were removed the brackets could then be removed. The bolts are under the fuel rails so maybe not.

I've used Safety Restore as well, and they did a GREAT job. Customer service was fantastic.

I am not sure if I can tell a difference with the gas on my welder but when I bought it the numbnut who sold it to me had it wired backwards. He had it set up for flux core instead of MIG. Dude built an entire race car chassis, hah. Welds looked terrible.

I made my own lift bars but the welds are nothing to brag about.

Well, at least you didn't burn through them....

Last time I had mine out, had to weld an O2 on my 3" STI exhaust, wasn't going to get a tank of argon, so, used flux ss wire.... Came out, 'ok'...

Another option, indeed ...

However, it does show that, despite the lack of resources, I can get it done....

Hard to get stainless that hot without melting it, brazing really isn't an option.

As Carlo accurately noted, even with shielded wire, it still isn't pretty, yet, it works.
