Check out the wheel bearings also. I had one front and one rear bad at 67k.

you'll probably want to get a new AOS for sure as the drive side of bank 1 was the only side with accumulated grime classic to the AOS.

also, on the drive side bottom of bank 2, there's a square coolant port attached by two torx screws. make sure mike retightens those as i had to remove them when i separated the transmission and only finger tightened them back.

Thanks, Tony. Yep, new AOS for sure. I'll do the spark plugs even though they probably have low mileage on them, cheap enough to do. I'll be sure and mention the coolant port to Mike Mulligan.

12/23/14 Update: The motor was supposed to arrive today, but the trucking firm fell behind in its delivery schedule. It should arrive tomorrow.

Thanks, Ted!

The motor arrived today (12/24/2014).

Of course, being right before Christmas, work will not start on it today. I'll go over to the shop on Monday (12/29/14) and check things out.

^^ Yep, I'll post pix of it when I get over there on the 29th. They left early today for the holidays, so no one there 'til Monday.

Mike, probably doing a run on 1/1, if you want to bring a 914.

Mike,

Looks like you haven't been naughty this year so Santa is giving you a Pass. You came up on this deal though! I'm curious how much you had to cough up. PM me if you're willing to share info.

Merry Christmas!

Ed, got any details on the run? The guys on 914World are also organizing a run for 1/1/15.

However, the typical status of most 914s is "on jack stands" so not sure if more than maybe two will show up.

Here was the status last I saw:

I propose we meet here:

Starbucks
1831 South Centre City Parkway
Escondido, CA 92025

at 7:30 on January 1, 2015 and head up/around Palomar with several stops along the way.

I'm in (914) and my brother (993)...

-Steve
We should combine the two runs.

I'd rather meet at the On The Border lot at the mall. I'm open-7am or 7:30 departure. Preference?

Nice to hear Santa was able to get your replacement engine before Christmas. Looking forward to the new pics and progress reports.
