Well, not a whole lot to post until next week. The car is in my driveway, the motor is in the shop.
Here's a link to the shop:

Here's the bio of the owner (it's a small shop, two guys):
Mike's also taking care of my 914s. He's probably the most knowledgeable 914 mechanic in the country.
So, here's the current Porsche collection, during this intermission (made an offer today on a Boxster for autocrossing, and seller backed out at the last minute, crap).
Considering that I was literally living from a dumpster less than 10 years ago (long story, thieving bitch of an ex involved) I'm quite proud of it, humble though it may be.
Now, go grab some popcorn, a dog, and take a whiz.

It is not just about racecars. Even racers have other cars they drive! Although our focus is on older vehicles that are built to have fun on the track, we know that those are not used to go to work.
Safety is important both on the track and on the road. Servicing your car is important to your safety as well as the safety of others.

We are a small shop so we can give you personalized service. Give us a call to see how we can help you!
Mike Mulligan, Owner:
With a knack for driving and a penchant for speed, he impressed his car club peers from day one.
Mike is currently the Chief National Scrutineer for Porsche Club of America, the Chief Driving Instructor for PCA's Grand Prix Region, and driving instructor for Alfa Romeo Owners Club. He has also been the Tech Chair for PCA's Zone 8 Festival of Speed for several years.

The 996 and Cayman (and 914s for that matter) are all such different driving experiences, that I can't really say which I enjoy driving more. It depends on the type of driving.
For a sunny slow day, I like driving the 914s best. For adrenaline moods, of course it's the 996. For just being out and about, the Cayman is great.

Hey guys... by the time the engine showed up here the shop was a bit backed up on projects. It's a small racing shop (two guys). Checked yesterday, and they are supposed to start on the car next week. The car's still sitting, unloved, in my side yard.
Patience, virtue, blah, blah, blah....
The thread "intermission" was getting rather too far off topic, so I figured I'd just let it lay low until there was some real news to post.
(In related news: Sheesh, I'm getting tired of driving the Kia around. Drove the Cayman at an autocross a couple weeks ago for the first time... I really liked it! I put in an offer on a Boxster at a local crappy used car lot. The guy accepted my offer at first, then backed out. Oh well, my place is looking like a used car lot anyway. Gave the Hyundai to my daughter, so one less vehicle to juggle. The '03 Turbo Beetle is gone as of a couple weeks ago, too.)
P.S. Can the IB overlords please get rid of that stupid feature that turns words into hyperlinks? Just because I used the magic word "Boxster" above, it makes a link?... jeez..
