#$@! Blew my engine today #&*#@!

12/16/2014 Update:
Alrighty, now that we've had a brief lesson in market economics, back on topic:
OK, I'm in the process of buying an engine. It's neither of the two posted about above. This morning, DTMiller and dgjks6 sent me PMs regarding a third engine for sale, that is local (in Sacramento). Thanks, guys!
I had some correspondence with the seller, and he did a leak-down today. Numbers are good, and he send me a video clip of it running.
I notified the seller of the motor in Houston, and he was very polite about it, a true class act.
The problem I'm running into now is Christmas/New Year. The seller says he thinks he can get it down here by Mon. or Tues. next week. If not, I may need to wait until after new year.
Lingpoen, I'm having Mulligan Racing Development in Vista do the work.
OK, I didn't realize that I couldn't re-use my LN IMSB. Of course, with the press-fit, that makes sense.
So, who's got a link to the best price for one?
I suppose I should get a new AOS too. Too much chance of metal debris in mine so I probably shouldn't, since I don't really know the extent of internal damage to my motor.
If any of you still don't know what to get me for Christmas, you can add the IMSB and AOS to the list. Tonight is the first night of Hanukah, so you still have 8 days to get them to me if you prefer that holiday.

Two things of which I have none thereof.
(How's that for abused grammar?)
OK, one eBay vendor is selling the LN IMSB for $593.75:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Engine-Inter...c038e8&vxp=mtr
Another guy has it for a whopping $2,164.77:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...0b4a1c&vxp=mtr
Then, there is every imaginable price in between.
Any reason I shouldn't buy the $593.75 one? Is there something suspicious there?

LN has it at $800.00 on their web site (not sure if they also charge tax and shipping).
Of course, if I need to spend the extra $200 to $300 I will.
I wonder if any of the sellers can verify the authenticity of the parts?

Cuda,
I purchased an LN IMS on ebay for $632 from partscontainer. They had the part to my dealer (Gaudin Porsche) in less than 72 hours (delivered yesterday) with no problems whatsoever. My service adviser said everything is legit and all necessary parts were in the box. I would recommend highly.

OK, $650 from Pelican.
Now, I need to find out if I need Part Number: LN-106-08-2 or Part Number: LN-106-08-4. The motor I buying is out of a 2002.
Finally! An IMSB thread that has some relevance!!! Another RL first, here.
12/17/2014 Update: OK, then engine has been yanked from the donor car and I should have it early next week.
I got a good price on the LN IMSB from TC's Garage in Vista, CA.

Why are you not buying the oil feed setup? There are several options out there and this should solve the problem for the long term. The engines before the 996 used this, seems to have worked.

Former Vendor
The IMS Solution is a plain journal bearing that works from pressure fed oil that forms a load bearing surface during operation. This is what all aircooled /6 engines used, as well as the Mexger based GT3 and Turbo engines.
This is much different from the "Direct Oil feed" which is a kit that supplies oil to an original style M96 ball bearing. Huge difference there, fellas.

^^^ Yep. There are several viable "upgrades" to the OEM IMSB. As far as I can tell, the LN ceramic bearings are a good choice and are cost effective.
Jake, can you let me know whether to order LN-106-08-2 or Part Number: LN-106-08-4? Or do you not endorse either, since I know you are not a retailer and your intent was to only sell to installers that you have trained.
(Jake, I found a guy selling another 3.6 and gave him your name.)
Thanks!

Sure, I'll keep sending 'em your way when I run across them. I totally understand your wanting to remain neutral on product recommendations.

My point was that not all kits had the oil pressure feeds. Your choice.

From my recollections 99's double, 00-01's mixed single and double, and all 02's on single.
But if not sure you may have to take out the bearing to confirm that it is a single row.
Some one chime in if I am wrong.
Also they now make a new double row single bearing and of course there is the solution.

Thanks for the input, all comments are welcome.
Jake's posted on this issue quite a bit. Apparently, there is no way to know from the year or engine number whether a single or a double-row bearing was used.
But, I think the LN double row can be used as a replacement for either, and I "think" the double row is supposed to be better. Not sure though.
Yippeee!!! Now this has turned into an official IMSB thread!
(I will be sure and solicit everyone's sage advice before I replace the oil in the "new" motor).

LN's website is rather less user-friendly compared to other, either deliberately so or they haven't got the time to get some UX person.
