Well only had about an hour to work on it tonight. Its half price margeritas at the local mexican joint and its stinkin hot/humid. I did get the other side motor mount seperated from the DC Auto cut and i got the firewall bump removed too. A little trimming and the left over piece will make for a good template for the cut on my c2. I hope to have it fitted, cut and welded tomor.
Fire wall is welded up, just need to get to the motor mounts. I used a small air powered recirpicating saw to make the cut. Had the local Napa paint mix me up some single stage in a areosol can to match the interior and trunk Artic silver. Once painted it will look factory-ish.
Mock up using the cut out from DC Auto Sharpie lined and ready dor cutting Hole is cut Test fit Welded in View from the trunk. This side will get seam sealed.
looks good. you can buy 2K epoxy primer from Eastwood before applying the paint
U make a good point, most people forget this step. i did pick up some self etching primer from the paint store. Its gonna get a real good cleaning and coated tonight.
So what part of the Metzger motor or components require the change in the firewall. What kind of welder set up do you have?
The oil tank as its a dry sump motor
I have a millermatic 35 mig from the mid 80"s. Old school 220v transformer power supply welder. I also have a miller 215 autoset that i use for stainless tig or mig and aluminum via a spoll gun.
I should have used the 215 for the light guage material but i was tio lazy to convert it over to mild steel.
