Did a swich-er-roo and now they r stacked. Gonna start pulling the interior on the gt3 and dropping the fuel tank in the c2. I need to see what needs to be done for the sender/pump and 2 of the supply lines need to be swapped. Also the metal tubes that go to the heater core need to be swapped. Only way to pull them is to remove the tank.

Looks like the abs is different too. The gt3 has 2 lines that go to the back and my car only has one. I wasnt really sure if the gt3 computers would play with my c2 abs anyways so i think i will just swap it out.

The power steering, clutch and ac lines will just bolt on at the connection points under the car. This will save a lot if time.

The GT3 ABS is light years better than the ABS on any other 996 except perhaps the GT2 or the 996 Cup cars. You will not be disappointed at swapping it.
If you're using the GT3 instrument cluster you should swap the fuel tank, if you can, or else the gas gauge will not read correctly. I'm sure you know that already.

Unless it has been replaced the GT3 rear window is thinner, lighter glass. I believe the other windows are the same as any 996.

I am using the gt3 cluster, but im not sure the tank will fit my car. Its based off the c4 chassis and the frunk is very different. Im hoping i can modify the sending unit so it fits my tank. It will read the level correctly but if the computer does a "distance to empty" that will be off because of the smalller capacity.

Fyi the sender on the gt3 is 10-300 ohms. 10ohms is full. Still need to check my c2.

Good to know on the glass but dont know if a swap out is in the budget. Dint think i want diy the glass.

True on both counts. I keep forgetting the RWD GT3 is based on the AWD chassis.

Mostly I wanted to make sure you knew, in case you decide to cut out and sell the glass separately. I bet the GT3 guys would like to have it.

Entire harness is out. A few more hours and the car will be a shell.

Got a ton of little stuff done but it doesnt translate well into pictures. I order all new coolant and vacuum lines for the motor but some of its has to come from germany. I may have to drop the motor this winter to finish because im not gonna wait for it. Im also still waiting on LA dismantlers to confirm they can get me the motor mounts and firewall bump out.

Today i got my suspension out, fuel, ac, clutch, ps and brake lines converted over. The good news is the gt2-3 use a c2 tank even though they r in a c4 chassis. Im gonna use the gt3 tank because the fuel pump is different and im.not sure if it will mount into my c2 tank. Hopefully ill have the interior stripped and some if the harness swapped tomor.

Same tanks

Gt3 uprights r much bigger then the c2 stuff

How tonight ended

Nice job! I am surprised at the hoses etc. needing to come from Germany. If you are in a bind and need a hose I have a couple used sets off of Turbo motors, most of which should be same as the GT3.
Oh, one thing to watch is if any hoses are superseded to 997 part numbers. Some of the 997 part# hoses are longer than the 996 part# hoses and will need to be trimmed to fit. So don't toss your old hoses yet.
This one caused me real problems. It's one of the undercar hoses next to the trans. The 997 part was so long it was kinked when I installed it and totally blocked the flow to the rads.

Thanks. All of the coolant hoses r available except 2. One was discoed with no update and 1 is zero in the entire system. The other parts r vacuum and emmisions stuff. I placed a 135 item order that included clamps and fittings so i dont think the number of unavailable parts is bad. Im trying to get those 2 hoses through autoatlanta.... not sure if a different region can get them.

Got part numbers for the 2 hoses?
Maybe someone here can help you find them.

996-110-654-91 NO STOCK ANYWHERE -> This one is the vacuum hose for the brake booster, I would not worry about reusing it. If it's no good some 5/8 emissions hose should do the trick. Or 1/2" whatever it is.
997-106-146-90 DISCO -> I can't find this one in my parts catalog, it just states "vent hose tunnel". I wanted to look up the parts diagram to see what it is.

I have seen that is the end of the part number is -90 through -99 it's typically a GT2/GT3 only part and will be harder to find.
