This is just one more piece of evidence that the 996 market is changing, speculators will come in and snap up what they believe to be the special cars, which drags up the prices for the rest of us, those who have a lot of disposable income just see a car collection as a safe haven to diversify, sure they can lose money but in relative terms its pretty safe compared to a bad market, was it a surprise to see it go for 85k? it was to me... but 6 bidders and two who were heading towards a 100k .. i think it was a special car, rare colors are a thing, low mileage, i would think a GT3 would be a more desirable car, or a GT2 or a Turbo, but getting a rare color with rare options might trump a Silver on Black Turbo for value.....

Fortunately (maybe unfortunately) mine is not yellow, but it is a PTS color. That yellow one sold for triple what I paid for mine in 2021, but of course it's not yellow, not an aerokit car, is full leather but not paint matched interior. I think I have the stated value at $40k right now but I keep an eye on values in case I have to raise it up.

That was bunkers
That 44k mile speed yellow was crazy on bat. In a short future with the final tune I’ll have $64k in a 600 hp almost indestructible 60k mile 03 turbo coupe mezger that will outperform that car in reverse. The only way that price makes sense is if the car is going on a collection, anyway with my p guys over here the thought of buying three 996s for that price received thumbs up 👍. I have bought plenty of cars a different color than I wanted just because they were a different color. My first scirocco 16v was silver, my 93 corrado SLC vr6 was emerald green, my 04 r32 was silver, my 14 F150 was silver, my 99 996 coupe silver, my 03 turbo 996 coupe black. On all these cases I really wanted a different color. Anyway the drive it’s more satisfying to me knowing that I got a great deal on the car. Yes people are paying huge money for speed yellow. Instead of paying all that money I would paint my 99 Mexico blue and put a 400 hp 3.8 engine in it, for me it’s the drive that matters.

when i was a kid I had a red ferrari 360 modena 1/18, and a yellow lamborghini diablo 1/18. I used to race them around my living room.
Since then I have always associated ketchup and mustard with their respective Italian design firms. Whenever I make liveries for my cars in sim racing, my lambos are yellow and the raris are red.
The other day I saw yellow Urus behind a red California and while they're maybe the stupidest Italian exotics in production it gave me a big smile.
But Porsches are silver. Them's the breaks

That’s from a dealer. I’m talking one like this: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...he-911-gt3-50/
Or the yellow one that was just relisted. Or
the silver one that sold for $90k. One with 31k was RNM but the reserve was probably 110-115. I love 996s but there’s no way I’d spend that kind of money on a 996 v spending similar money for a much more rare gt3. Can’t even really compare the two.
