Couldn't have said it any better! This response is absolutely perfect. I read a lot about eFuel from the Porsche releases a few months ago when the new GT3 dropped. I think they'll figure out a way to do it and most of the OEMs will get on board. They all want to keep their classics and heritage cars on the road. I also think electric is a fad and isn't going to be the future. The mined minerals that are needed for the batteries and electric components are expensive and limited, as well. Not to mention it's a little similar to conflict diamonds.

Nexus, couldn't agree more.
Electric is a "next" step in the process of hybrids for all. Until some genius can figure out how to build a battery to store energy, it becomes an exciting fad. The only hope with today's battery technology is to "replenish" the battery with new energy from a hybrid solution. Who would want their daughter to drive an electric car from Chicago to Florida as an example. Not a lot of electric charging stations along the way.
The above statements don't take into consideration mining/geopolitical issues that are brewing for the elements needed to make the current form of batteries. Batteries need natural elements. Natural elements for batteries come from the earth, of which most come from African mines which are controlled by various superpowers that are not the USA. You get the context. It's now a geopolitical negotiation.
Porsche has one of the greatest marketing operations in the world. What they are doing is going directly at Tesla to establish their "electric" motor dominance, while quietly building biofuel capabilities and petitioning F1 and other motorsport bodies to embrace biofuel requirements. Once they get it, and they will, they will come out and say that they not only have the world's premier electric motor capabilities, but the world's premier hybrid biofuel capabilities and give everyone a choice of whether they want their Taycan with a gas powered engine, hybrid engine or electric. What petrol head in their right mind wants an electric engine?
Lastly, porsche entered E F1 racing and exited it after a few short years. Asked why they said that they learned all they could. Very telling.

There's a thread in the 997 section on whether it will be a future collectible with 996 prices rising. There's a handful that say nobody will ever like for headlights and all the usual critiques, but they are speculating based on their own emotions towards the 996. Only time will tell, and as others have mentioned, as more 996's are taken out of commission, inventory drops. I lucked out buying 4 years ago (at what I thought was a premium), don't think if I could get it for the same price today.

Looks like Porsche is signing up for Formula E again. Porsche does nothing if it doesn't make business sense, so they must have something else they want to learn, test or market.

Collectables of all kinds are experiencing the same run up in prices. Baseball cards & sports memorabilia are reaching "bubble" levels again, NFT (non fungible tokens) are trading for "beyond bubble" levels. (Don't ask me to explain NFTs please). I own 2 911s and I hope they continue to appreciate. They should, they are magnificent machines. I won't drive them any less if they become more valuable. The pleasure is in driving them, not owning them!

Limited supply, with enhanced demand thru free money compliments of fiscal and monetary stimulus. Same with home prices.
