Prices Keep Drifting Up

@NYoutftr I’m in the minority but I think an “amateur” and honest picture set is better to gauge condition than the dealer “pro” sets
I’m always very wary when all the pictures look like posters
Plus the auctions seem to really love new pics posted almost daily, in response to certain questions or to highlight various features. You can’t bring the “pro” back every day feasibly. These daily “sets” are appended to the full collection automatically by BaT, providing a seamless and cohesive “whole picture” by the final day
Stuff others have said very good too: symmetry, background, time of day, weather; all super important
Just my opinion, but I did sell a 2001 Carrera with almost 80K miles for almost $35K on BaT in the dead of Winter, 2020: not an easy feat, back then anyway
PS, IMO skip “drone” shots just esoteric and distracting fluff if they don’t inform about condition

Thank you for he tips
The photographer I had planned on, my friend and fellow Porsche owner, we made arrangements twice, both times rained out. Now his availability is getting close to zero.
We don't live in a big city area, so options are limited.
I just reached out to some of the Street Rod, Racers etc. facebook groups I belong to for recommendations for a professional photographer that does cars,
I got one recommendation so far, the place specializes in Boudoir Photo shoots , you can't make this &%$* up.
I just emailed BaT, to see if they have anyone close by.
Thanks again
David

It's not just the quality of the photos too. A good photographer won't shoot mid-day where sun is harsh producing hard shadows. A good photographer will know that and shoot early in the morning or during the "golden hour", if outside. Framing and flattering angles go a long way. You'd be surprised how much of a difference turning your wheels a certain direction or laying down on the ground will do for a car photo. Also, human eye likes symmetry. That should be taken into account when framing shots. Shoot, now I'm thinking of offering this as a service locally as more people sell cars on-line, be it BaT, Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. As an example, my dad's 2004 base Subaru Forester 5-speed with 165k miles and records since 23k miles got an offer of $800 from the dealer. Once I prepped it and photographed it, it sold in 3 days for the asking price of $4700.00. Presentation matters.

Great post. There are many books on the subject if the poster wants to improve their skills, even with a phone camera. Good point on camera height. Many people forget about height and shoot from eye level. It's what we see everyday, but there is a whole other world at different positions.

Another 996 fails to meet the reserve on BAT.
I guess the combination of a bear market, inflation at a 40 year high, record setting gas prices and a looming recession does have an impact on 996 values.
Looks like a buyers market is just around the corner

How does one sign up to be a photographer for BaT? That red car has a crap load of photos in horrible light with varying exposures which tend to change how the red appears, and red is one of the more difficult colors to capture.

The 996 is following the downward trend of the US economy.
I don’t plan on selling mine but it’s still interesting to follow the market.

I’ve been noticing the downtrend lately too. Almost seems to have happened overnight. I was watching C4S’s set records consistently on BaT and now not so much. I paid $37,500 for my 04 C4S, manual, 58k miles back in a November which I still feel good about, but don’t think I’m ahead quite as much today as I was 2 months ago.
I was a bit confused by this one recently. I feel confident 4-6 weeks ago that would have been $48-50.
