Glenn - I need to go back and look at the data, will do that this weekend, as I said above, the car was more challenging to drive with regards specifically to off throttle, or maint throttle characteristics. The front felt good but the rear was moving around specifically under hard braking and from corner entry to mid corner. I was seeing pressure rises on the rears a couple PSI more than I am accustomed to seeing, even under hot conditions so it is likely I was working the rears more than before. I don't think the extra pressure in the rears was doing me any favors and when I knocked my starting pressures down to compensate in the last session, the car felt a little easier to drive. But, because I have not yet looked at the data and I don't really fully trust my seat of the pants feel, I'll compare the other day to what I saw last year and get a better picture of where the gaps were and the likely tweaks that I can make to close and move, hopefully WAY past them.
This will be an interesting season as we see how you dial in the new aero and suspension. Alot of variables versus just dialing in your new JRZs. I gotta believe that new front bumper and lip (LOVE IT) are giving you some incredible front end grip which makes it a bit more challenging to balance. But no doubt in my mind you will nail it.
Some footage from the 3rd session... Happy to have the first day out of the way, lots to focus on improving, driver particularly. Looking forward to more !
You changed a bunch of things at one time.
Sometimes that makes you faster, but many times it doesn‘t which can be disappointing.
It means you have more things to tweak.
The roll cage makes your car much stiffer, but likely moved your center of gravity higher, even with the lighter roof.
Eventually your car should be much faster once you have everything adjusted.
Those adjustments can be challenging and frustrating.
Having last year’s data (and new data) will hopefully help you get there sooner.
What are your hot tire pressures Jason? The tire pressures on your set up sheet are high. The 305/35 NT01 does not like anything over 34psi hot. With the 275/305, 32/33hot is optimal. At your weight, I would even try 31/32 hot. Typically 25/25 cold starting pressure on 1st session.
I ran 32/35 hot all last year and it worked for me on a 245/305 setup. Maybe lower could have been better but I had very good wear, consistent predictable grip and consistent temp across the tire. Starting pressure to get there would be about 27/30.
Same starting pressure on Thurs was seeing hot pressure of 37/40. Ambient was high 80's.
Pressure is high on the list of adjustments and I'll give your 25/25 cold a shot.
Traded the bronze wheels that did not fit over my brakes for a set of 19's that do. For now, their only use is having tires that will get me through the MA inspection... I need to get rid of the snows that are currently mounted on them and find a set of cheap tires that I can run in the wet if need be and use on the very occasional street rip.
Never thought I would have a set of 19's for the car, or ****ing snow tires but here we are...
Promising. Data shows in the -1.2G and that was steadily getting better throughout the 3 sessions I ran, not as good as last year but good enough to show they work OK. The combination of being away from the track for so long and the newness of probably, what is for me, the most critical aspect of what allowed me to be relatively fast last year meant I needed to feel that I could go back to having that kind of commitment. They didn't do anything weird like lock the rears or fronts unexpectedly which was a worry so I am excited to see what they can do when I drive it with the type of commitment i have previously.

great to hear this! Did you do anything different in the rear as I can’t remember as you talked about ideas on a few different setup options…

Same setup on the rear as last year, stock calipers, Hawk DTC60 and Sebro rotors... Still yellow calipers although I'm hoping if I never clean them they will magically turn red to match the fronts.
