After several months of very slowly refreshing my C2 I started it up for the first time. 🎉
...CSF radiators, every coolant hose, coolant tank, thermostat, fuel injectors, fuel filter, transmission mount, alternator, starter, UAOS with auto-drain, new sensors, inspected for bore scoring from the sump, and replaced every gasket I could manage without dropping the engine (saving that for when I need to do clutch, IMS, and RMS)

Thanks . I am old school and like the fit and strength of the factory hood . So for me I wanted an insert type . Just a personal preference . The fit was perfect , to be honest I was surprised how well it fit . After a quick dry fit off to the painter it went .
It came preprimed so just a light sanding was needed . The painter removed the GT3 grill inserts and did his thing . He reported zero issues . Then he reinstalled the grill inserts . This was probably the easiest aftermarket piece I have ever installed .

The vendor is " directcartoys " and purchased via eBay . There are much cheaper versions out there but I chose this because it appeared to be good quality . That is subjective just based on pics and comments . But in my case it was a wise purchase that didn't disappoint .

I am leaning the same direction. With the exception of RPMs carbon ducktail which is lighter and well designed, I dont see anything else I am crazy about for a full lid replacement for the price. I think direct car toys has hit a home run. Congrats.
^^ related to the above - I'm on the passenger side and the transmission on that side is my problem. I'm stuck atm trying to loosen the bolt on the batwing/boomerang and it's spinning freely. I welcome any tips/tricks for locking it/bracing it so I can remove the center bolt.

The only thing left for me to detail was the inside of the fuel filler so I bought a new hinge and on the third day of trying - read the Bentley manual, watched You Tube videos, I said screw it and broke it into 8 pieces. That got it out!
After my H&R springs and Eibach swaybar upgrades described earlier, I engaged in a bit of self-indulgence this week. Wanted something to break up the silver paint and let me pick my car out of a line of similar 911s. Added a 12 inch solid matte dark green stripe. To me it's conservative and distinctive without being weird. Hope to add some green interior accents in the future (mats, maybe seat belts, maybe even plaid seat inserts if I get rich).

I think I found my problem:
The metal gears are much more noisy, so I suspect the choice to use plastic against the screw drive was motivated by that factor. I have a bit more work to do, likely on adjusting the ball joints or messing with the sensing micro switches. I clear the dash light when putting the top down, but it stays on when I put the top up. Function appears to be fine, however. Also, the rear deck clamshell thing seems to sit about 1/2 centimeter high when the top is down. Still, I'll take "needs tweaking" over "doesn't work rn" any day. Gonna check this one off in the 101 projects book and get on to the next one! I love this car and I love working on it.
The next project for this long weekend is installing a new A/C in my garage so I can live some of that climate controlled life when warm temps return!

Attended a Cars and Coffee at the Tree House Brewing Company in Charlton, MA - my first C&C. There must have been over 75 Porsche's. I was surprised by the number of Spyders in attendance. Beautiful cars.
