What did you do to your 996 today?

Replaced the oil pressure sensor on my 2004 CS4
Removed the leads from the top, used my lift bar
Removed the tire, used a 19mm low profile crows foot,
No grinding required, fit just fine. I preferred from below, better visibility on the sensor.
Also let me use some degreaser to make sure it seated well. All in about 90 min. Very satisfying do it yourself.
You
Short drive and nice and dry. New sensor fop left, It’s a very good day.

My car lost a tooth yesterday. I ordered a replacement today. It cost over $100.00. Porsche tax indeed.

Thanks Mark ! quite a journey is a good way to put it
Running on 8 and has 85PSI of oil pressure so... we'll say good enough for now. Time to get to buttoning stuff up, getting an exhaust made and on the dyno to get the ECU calibrated.
Hopefully we get through that stuff relatively drama free and then I can have an opportunity to enjoy it,

I didn’t do this all today (almost exactly one year from engine drop to first start). But my 4l runs and now has 25 miles on it. I think this will be a fun car once again.

Installed new engine mounts.
Spraying the 18mm nuts with PB B’LASTER the night before really helped.
I couldn’t believe that they came off with no problem!
That’s not bad good considering I’m pretty sure they were original.
It’s a relatively easy DIY

Anyone that gets through that process successfully is demonstrating a commendable level of attention to detail and mechanical aptitude as far as I’m concerned.
Wish you many happy miles with it.

Three Wheelin'
Replaced the battery, was pleasantly surprised when I was expecting to pay $250 and they warrantied it, had no idea it was even still under warranty. Then drove it for the first time in 3-4 months. I keep going back and forth on selling it, feels like a shame to let it sit but I hold out hope once my youngest is in a booster and in school full time I will have more opportunities to use it.

'Installed' grilles from Zunsport
I have recently installed, rather, paid to have installed, new radiators in my '01 C2. I had previously used grills from the radiatorgrillstore.com, but I didn't have much faith in them, they didn't fill the intakes. These admittedly more pricey grills from https://www.zunsport.com/us/product/...=76&filter=201
clip on in front of the intakes and in my opinion provide more protection. I like the way they look. My car is meridian metallic so I paid the extra for black nylon coating on the stainless steel grills. The center one is for show only, and screws into the plastic backing, very easily. If you're running a center rad or tiptronic they have other options.
Peter at Zunsport provides purchasers with a membership card. One of the perks is 15% off for anyone using your member number. If you want the savings, pm me.

Wow, that will be a very quick little q ship! I'm jealous. I don't have bore scoring, at 99,100 miles, and so far engine runs fine thank God, so I'm paying I can avoid a rebuild. That's an expernsive operation. I've spent so much on maintenance and service history backlog stuff, I almost feel I should have done the engine first. Though, much of the expenses I've incurred would still have been necessary. I am considering timing work. But now I've learned that the 5 chain engines need the case split to change the long chain that links the ims to the top end, (cams?). So the timing chain(s) can only be partially done. Maybe I'll just try the vari pads replacement and cross my fingers. Both my cam deviations are in the -5 range. I guess it's entirely possible that I can get 150k miles or more without spending anything, if I keep fresh oil and keep the engine free from overrevs. That's my hope anyway. Enjoy your new engine👍👍👍 It will be a massive upgrade no doubt!
