I couldn't take the loud squeaking ball joints so I replaced the front control arms. Here are the old ones. The bushings weren't too bad on either arm. The ball joints would squeak when I moved them by hand. I went with Meyle for the primary control arms. I had to go cheap aftermarket for the support arm as Meyle arms are out of stock everywhere and Porsche ones are way too expensive. Overall this was a pretty easy job and everything went without issues.

Not to cause too much topic drift but can you explain that a bit more? I did a full suspension refresh last year with all Genuine Porsche suspension arms and did not have to use spacers anywhere. I did need longer bolts in one location, that was it.

Well today I was at Mosport but it was my first chance to try out my new additions.
1. A used short shifter…bought it off a guy already installed in a console for $40. The throws are comically short and the action is quite heavy, mitigated a little by a Raceseng slammer shift **** I had lying around.
2. A small powered sub…my car had the base system so no door speakers, and even with a relatively high-powered head unit and quality aftermarket speakers, there was no bump at all.
The sub is a Pioneer TS-WX130DA, and despite my best attempts at measuring, it is a little big for the space I picked, the vertical surface under a rear seat. So the rear seat pad doesn’t sit down quite all the way, but it is not noticeable and nobody ever sits there so it all good.
The sub only draws 4 A, so I used the phone plug and a harness I bought from Renn Classic. The wires I routed under the center console.
Don’t worry I bundled them nicely.
I used genuine Porsche screw-in Velcro pads to fix the sub.
I could not quite tuck the cords out of sight but it’s not too visible.
How’s the sound? I listen to mostly heavy alternative rock at elevated volumes, but even then the sub actually has more power than I need. But with its small size, the very low frequency tones are a little weak. It took a lot of fiddling with the settings to minimize mid-bass boominess and to get relatively equal bass response across the spectrum, but overall I am very pleased. Can’t hear the (Fister mod) exhaust any more though! Lol Next project…?

Started replacing my radiators and hoses. ~130k miles -- still had the original radiators and hoses from 1999.
Debris stuck between the radiator and condenser. Less than I expected but my C2 has spent it's entire life in southern coastal California.
The CSF 7044 radiators didn't quite fit because the cores are much thicker than stock. To provide some clearance, I trimmed back the body slightly and hit it with some Rust-Oleum for protection.

Three Wheelin'
The base system is also known as the "no bass" system
Thanks for sharing. Those low-profile subs are surprisingly powerful. You might want to post your sub in this audio upgrades thread ==> https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...s-in-here.html
There's running discussion of low profile subs in that thread.

Finished installing passenger side CSF 7044 radiator -- just like the driver's side, the body needed a bit of trimming...
Trimmed under the passenger side headlight and hit with some paint (inside and out) for protection
Trimmed behind the passenger sidemarker
The radiator shroud on the passenger side had a crack so I tried my hand at plastic welding. Used some thing stainless steel mesh to add strength. This is the backside so the repair isn't visible once assembled
Shrouds back on and everything buttoned up. Just waiting on a few rubber/plastic bits for the front bumper before reinstalling.

IPD 996 74mm CS upgrade to GT3 82mm TB & Solar Adapter
Today I upgraded my MY04 C4S…47000…CAI to the GT3 TB. The plan was to switch to Competition but budget constraints say do it on the cheap. The “Solar” adapter is $105…new OEM TBS R $325 & Up…aftermarket are $150-200…and I found a used one for less than $100 do this upgrade less than $250. Competition IPD IS $895…
Easy enough to remove the intake and TB. The adapter adds about 1inch and larger TB require making room by twisting plenum upward. Hmmm. this may be an issue (-1).
. Adapter requires attachment via 4 screws and it’s a hooked hole so the bolts can be tightened. Without removal of PE reservoir it’s a tight fit and I needed a 2inch stubby that I had to make myself. Most stubby are 4-5 inches. Too long.
TB hooked up without a hitch but my Fabspeed 1st generation Left hook Carbon Fiber intake was now out too far to miss the fan housing. I shortened the coupler position and got it placed and able to close the engine lid.Fired it up and she hiccuped a bit then smoothed out. I let her idle while ECU learned.
I love the look of 997S cars due to metal plenum so IPD checked that box…yay!
mods already on car
Fabspeed Cans
Fabspeed Intake
997S headers
Short shift kit(doesn’t fix the acceleration lag the Edrive cars have..Yes; it’s a thing…
Sportec Wheels.w/ wheel spacers 17mm rear…5mm front on Michees PS4…Stock Turbo twist auto cross shoes…Pilot Sport Cup2s
Stainless Steel brake lines
Stoptech Cross-drilled and Slotted Rotors …carbon break pads
m030 lowered suspension
Time for a drive. Okay…car feels and pull stronger or just wishful thinking. Normally car starts to ge5 crisp around 3200 rpm and pulls to WOT…the headers did that with the most spine tingling WOP but now it’s starting at 3000. Ask the Hemi charger…they usually pull away but not today. I don’t believe I lost power JakeO…maybe with all the mods. It’s making me want to get the tune now even more. For me…car is already scary fast but when did that ever stop anybody…lmao.
who wouldn’t want an upgrade to a 9924S or GTS..or the Hybrid911…of course they’re better cars but EVERY TIME… w/o fail I go look at them then get back in this one. I quickly forget what I just saw…lol. Fun day…
The adapter metal is very bright
The dual pipe current generation Fabspeed dual intake angles downward…
First Black 911R I’ve seen
Which on3 would you pick? …blue one

strange....were they the correct units listed for your car? I have the cfs rads and they fit fine with no mods.

Yup, correct parts according to CSF's website: https://csfrace.com/csf_products/dir...stems/#996_986
@De Jeeper You have a 996.1, right? Strange... :/

Installed a new all black Porsche Classic steering wheel. The smooth leather matches the Euro GT3 seats well.

OK, I splurged for the Hightower RS-style door pulls when Pelican Parts had 10% off.
https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...RSDOORPULL-RED
I think I like them, except for the price.
I also wish my Porsche MOMO horn button would be more reliable.
I guess I need to buy a new one.
I thought mine was fixed, but it stopped honking again.
At least the MOMO button work great.
Also to tick off the 996 purists, I swapped back to the round headlights. (Don't worry, the 996 shaped headlight will return before too long)
Recently I also added a new sticker to the rear window:
