I've been busy the past couple of months.. I finished my M96 build a few weeks ago and its running fine so far for my 986S- to gain some confidence for building my M96.04 in my 01.
I also cleaned up a set of BBS wheels I had bought for my 996 before I got intermix- shameless plug, they are for sale to help offset some costs of the rebuild.
How difficult was the window regulator R&R? My passenger window interferes with the door opening when all the way up. Door card is still off as piece the interior back together. Trying to decide if I get by with an adjustment or go ahead and replace the regulator.
It's an easy R&R.
But it's also an easy adjustment.
Lower your window almost all the way. (I go until ~1" from the bottom)
Pull the rubber grommets off the bottom of the door and use an E7 e-torx.
(Inner grommets are for the nuts holding the regulator to the door, Outter grommets are for adjustments)
Turn clockwise to lower the window.
Here's a picture of the adjustment rod:

Looks great. I've been following your two builds. That boxster build is (obviously) of great interest to me! I love that you got the car post fire. I'd be curious to know what the resurrection/rehab costs you all-in.
Started hearing/feeling some misc thunks and clunks in the drivetrain over the last couple of months so decided to do these first since they are original with 55K on them.
Looks like it was about time. Old one on the left.
Spent 90 minutes ripping Squaw Pass Road from Evergreen to Idaho Springs, then HWY 119 (Peak to Peak Highway) from outside Golden to Central City. Windows down, radio off, 4k-6k RPM. Glorious! Too busy driving to take photos.
Here are two shots from the same drive last September. Still looks the same, but the car's a bit improved since then.
I finished a brake job I thought I finished two weeks ago. Don’t forget to fully unwrap your toys before you play with them kids! Can I get a “Heeere’s your sign”?
Not today but washed and took a picture a couple days ago. Hopefully this is the last picture with the current suspension setup. I'm hoping to install H&R RSS coil-overs next week or so. Also doing new coils/plugs/oil while I'm at it.
I couldn't take the loud squeaking ball joints so I replaced the front control arms. Here are the old ones. The bushings weren't too bad on either arm. The ball joints would squeak when I moved them by hand. I went with Meyle for the primary control arms. I had to go cheap aftermarket for the support arm as Meyle arms are out of stock everywhere and Porsche ones are way too expensive. Overall this was a pretty easy job and everything went without issues.
Replaced bezel around radio and AC. Removing the lighter was tricky. The electrical contact part sits inside a clear bezel and is a press fit. I had to find something (end of a flashlight in my case) to hold the bezel while I hit the end of the lighter with a mallet. Popped right out. All the switches just pop in and out. The old bezel had that soft touch coating which looks and feels weird, so I have been replacing it all.
