Those weights are a tuned mass damper that is intended to prevent the pads from resonating and making excessive noise.

To get rid of the dreck inside the wheel barrels try kerosene, gasoline, and/or oven cleaner. Not all at once.

But I'm open to suggestions from the forum as well. Maybe Carrera red or yellow, something bold. Since my paint is so neutral pretty much anything will work. The renndecals Carrera decal can be changed easily as well. Though https://renndecals.com/ is down and has been for a while, Chris is still responding to emails at renndecals@gmail.com.
Greg what color did you end up doing? Light gold and dark 'blood' cherry red or crimson would be nice I think.

I've pretty much decided to go with Gunmetal or pewter, as soon as my rims arrive, I'll look closer at sample swatches. I no longer want black, and silver is too light.
I'll definitely post pics when I get them on, may take another week or so.

Do you know the manufacture of yours?
Here's mine:
I was told it was a Getty wing when I bought the car, I don't know how to verify that.

Greg

picked up 2 E28’s and 2 E88’s. Ordered 4 more e28 faces, 2 e88 faces, 6.5 inner barrels, and (4) 2.5 lips to build myself two set of wheels this summer/fall. I’m looking for 2 more 6.5 barrels.

Old on the left, LED on the right.

Fits perfect!

@sasilverbullet Have you used them at night yet? Any dark spots? What about glare to on-coming drivers?

My brother was driving my car, so I snapped a few rollers from her "good side" lol

Not yet, I'll try and do that within the next week and let you know. I did have them on this morning but it wasn't dark, it was just kind of darkish. So I haven't really seen how they look on the pavement yet.

Default It Works!

I drove down to Cambridge MD for IM 70.3 Eagleman this weekend and really enjoyed two hours of stop-n-go traffic on the bay bridge. But that brought a slight front end noise to my attention.

After re-torquing every suspension bolt up front this morning, I thought I would check on that space-saver spare that has never been used in 20yrs. And it worked! Had to remove the valve core to get the tire to inflate at first, but it held air like a champ and even snapped back into compact shape when I let the air out. I’m going to ignore the Sep 2003 date code and feel better about the spare probably working if I ever need it.

They were originally made in 5 stud Porsche fitment as many factory racecars frequently used them : 964, 993 and 996 :

@sasilverbullet, Just a simple bulb swap?
If so, I'll give them a try.

@TexSquirrel yes, simple. Before you buy them give me a few days to take some pics in the dark.

I installed a Function First shifter bushing kit . Took my time it was much easier because my seats are out . Can't drive it until I get my seats back from the upholstery shop . But sitting still shifter movement feels smooth and precise .

Nice! Did you move to a 997 shifter or keep your 996 shifter?
