damage I did all that before the brakes very satisfying and a much needed form and function for the brake dept
just waiting on my UIDS so I can do the Solution and clutch in one shot and hopefully I’m done
Finished painting the interior bits. All that's left is getting Frank at Exclusive Option to wrap some bits in leather, and the project is done (for the next couple years, at least).
Replaced the engine mounts. They weren't too bad, but it was my first real project and I needed an easy one for a little bit of confidence. It's been about 30 years since I "needed" to wrench a car. Now it's nice to want to wrench on something, especially when that something is a 911.
Replaced that stripped brake fluid reservoir cap and went for a drive, a long one. Very relaxing listened to some podcasts. When I got closer to home I tried to stay off the brakes, then parked up. Ran in the house and grabbed my infrared pointer thermometer thing, and checked all the 4 wheels temps, using the disc hat as the target. They were all very close, about 107f. So either my wheel bearings are still good, or I'm not shooting the right spot? If the wheel bearing were shot, it should heat up the whole area right? I was suspecting bearing issues because there is a lot of road noise, whirring from the rear. Starting to hear some thunks as well.
I'm trying to save money for engine maintenance before doing the suspension. What good are new coilovers etc if the heart and lungs are decrepit. It needs head work, timing chain guides, my dme shows bank 2 in the high 5s. And lots of 'while you're in there.

Damage, out of curiosity, what tires are you running? Some tires make a boatload of noise.
Regarding refreshing your parts, take your time, do what you need to do to make sure the engine is safe and running in top form first. Then worry about the other items next. If you plan on being a long term owner, you have all the time in the world.
Yuck. Really sorry to see this. I don't know if our cars are too low for people to see where they are when they move about. 2 times I've come out to find a dented license plate. Both times from parallel parking. So, no more parallel parking for me unless it's the front end spot. I hope the repair goes well.

They are 2016 stamped pilot sport 3 A/S, 17X7 17X9. I could try new ones I suppose. I think the engine is safe, but at 100k miles I'm m planning on a top end refresh at least. But, itl would be real nice to get my suspension into the 21st century. The stock bilsteins b4 are actually all new dampers, so I can sell them. They don't inspire a ton of confidence at speed on the highway over bumps, the damping is just not as good as you get with modern coilovers. I'm not going to just throw coilovers on, if the rest of the suspension needs a refresh. Steering feels a bit vague, so that's due. It's only money. If only I be didn't have other responsibilities💰🙄
Washed both 996s, went to performance shop open house
Started early in the morning. Washed both the coupe and the turbo. Drove the turbo to take my son to work and to get my wife some taco cabana tacos for her breakfast. I always park my cars in places where I can get protection on one side from door dings and whatever. Then took the 99 to performance shop one year anniversary open house. Yes I went supersonic on both cars 1 cuatro zero in the turbo. I got compliments on the sound of the 99 and they had a professional photographer there and she was taking all kinds of pictures of my car. As always had a blast on Porsche Saturday. My caffeine fluid, makers 46 is pretty good. Coke Zero for the caffeine part. I sweat my as? Off washing both cars started like at 5 am finished about 10 am. Elijah Craig and makers 46 both great bourbon s and both 94 proof. I always park my cars far away , I get the exercise and I feel like I get protection against door dings. Getting the tacos for the wife. $100k 95 993 car is in pretty great shape. At performance shops open house.

Did a cleaning (vacuum, spray, vacuum again) of my radiators from the outside and installed the high speed relay fan hack with a manual switch.
the hack works great, my car now sits at the middle of the 8 in 180F while driving and even in traffic at over 100F i didnt see over 200F on my engine temp guage, my oil pressure at idle never dropped below 1.2 bar.

It's funny you mention the car being low, because the the car that hit me was a new XC60 and the guy said he was surprised his back up camera/collision monitor didn't catch my car, although it was very problematic that he was relying on that. This is the second time I have been hit by someone who had no business being in reverse. I was waiting about a car length and a half behind this driver to get into the gate for our parking garage when all of a sudden I see white lights flash on and this guy just pegged the gas and came flying back and hit me and nearly hit a parked car too. I have no idea what this guy's plan was, but thankfully this accident has actually been a really smooth process. He immediately felt really bad, apologized and admitted fault. Within an hour his insurance company called me saying he admitted fault and letting me know who their recommended body shops are in the area. Certainly a lot smoother than my first accident years ago, which was 2 weeks after I turned 16 and 0% my fault. The couple were uninsured North Idaho neo-***** and the wife clearly had a meth problem and the 6'6" 400LB+ husband trying to blame me and physically fight me until the cops came and shut it down.
I got the name of the Geico improved shops and the Porsche dealer recommended shop. Going to do my research tonight and hopefully make some calls in the morning.

My paint all around was in very good shape for the age, but the front definitely had some stone chips and could have been resprayed, but I had no intention too given it is my daily in SE LA. It looks like hopefully all the damage is localized to the bumper which is a miracle. the thing was a half inch off in height from completely taking out my headlight. I can only imagine how it would have been trying to explain to insurance that my headlight was only made for 9 months, is NLA, and not the same a Boxster despite looking very close.
