I decided today at 3 pm was the perfect time to remove the front bumper, replace the inner grille and clean the rads. Oof that was not a good idea. On the plus side, I was only left with one extra screw and haven't died yet of heat stroke.

Default Went for a drive and took photos

After I did a cerakote headlight treatment, went for a drive, a nice long one😎
Here's some pics I took today, same car same camera. The sun really shows the red tint undertones in meridian metallic, which in the shade looks almost silver or platinum.

Red undertones in direct sun

Another, full sun

In the shade, clouds crossed the sun

Another in cloudy lighting
...or maybe it's just me. Haha

I too decided to stsrt working in my car around 3pm. Did an intensive track prep inspection. I do this about every 6 hpde days. I checked the pads, rotor thickness, pushed 60 sec of clean fluid through both sides of each caliper, cleaned the wheels and rotors of rubber chunks and did a general inspection. I did find the metal lip on the bottom if the rear bumper pulled free. Not sure what got hooked to cause the rivits to pull though, maybe it was just the wind from me driving so fast . It just needs a good wash and its ready for Pitt Race next weekend.

I did plugs and coil packs. Boy! A couple of these are fiddly! Watched the FCP Euro video on the subject, which was brilliant.

I was able to do the left side without removing any exhaust bits at all. The coil pack on the rearmost right side was a PITA because there's so little clearance to get my paws in there. I ended up pulling the right exhaust manifold and after a lot of fiddling, thinking, trying nearly every long, narrow set of pliers on hand, I heard the satisfying "click" of the harness locking into the coil and satisfaction was mine!! Bolted it all back together and headed to the shower. Will chase with a much deserved whiskey.

Rear tires tomorrow.

Not a bad workspace

Almost there.

Remembering where all the screws go and which screws go where is the hardest part of that job by far!!

I never see anybody mention that in any of the videos. I got them all back on correctly, but it was difficult, and I was pretty organized in how I took them off.

Took me forever to clean, prep and mask everything but I think they came out looking nice.

Going to dip my wheels tomorrow, because I am done for the day. I need a beer and a shower.

Curious what the "before" pic looks like

I have about a dozen of these magnetic trays strategically placed around the garage.

There's always one nearby.
When I pull my bumper, two small ones go on each side of the car.
One large one goes underneath the bumper at the front and one goes in the frunk.
Screws and plastic plugs go into the nearest magnetic tray.

When I do any work in back under the decklid, there is always at least 1 magnetic tray nearby. with some "snack bags" and a sharpie.
Bolts go into a baggie and get labeled, unless it's a quick 30 minute job.
When I sleep at night, all memories of where I removed bolts from are erased never to be recalled again.
I also keep lug nuts in my magnetic trays attached to my QuickJack.

Default Backup switch replacement success!

Failed the setting the mirror memory in reverse trick which led me to discovering no back up lights either

Also not happy with the gnarly console

With some help from some fellow rennlisters, started the project

Making good progress

Made some cash, fyi, their are two short connectors you have to look for when lifting out the console. Only lift a few inches or you will rip them out.

Replaced the switch,

Refinished the console, put some stick on furniture pads behind the seatbelts. When you get the parking brake cover off, I would wrap the handle that’s now visible with tape and cloth. Console cut the leather below when moving it around. Was able to repair it but could of prevented it.

Best of all lights and tilt mirror on backing up, thanks for helping, great site!

I think it's just one of the under panel bolts since I got all the wheel well push pins in along with the side screws and the ones near the frunk release. My shroud that covers those screws and the mechanism crumbled when I took it out so I ordered a new one today and finally bit the bullet and ordered a frunk and trunk release levers for the inside of the car.

Default New P O R S C H E lettering

Following on from last week's wrap job, I've added the P O R S C H E lettering to the rear. Thinking of leaving it like this and not adding the Carrera back on.
