What did you do to your 996 today?

For some it's aesthetic, and I fall in that group. However, similarly to you, the cubbies come in great handy so it's hard to justify form over function. It does look much cleaner without though.

Last drive, old engine
Off on a Georgia sojourn. Maybe I'll have GT3 wheels waiting for when she gets back. And after the Ohlins finally get fitted, she'll be worthy of the engine.
What will I drive until then?!? My 220K(?) mile Prius is not quite the same.

I can't imagine how exciting this is!

My daughter will be turning 16 the same month I ship off my car, so whatever I buy will probably be given to her to drive once my 996 comes back.
She's lucky for the timing.
She might not have gotten her own vehicle, but since I'll have a spare just 4 months later...
It also means whatever I get needs to be automatic and reasonable for a 16 year old to drive.

I did the center console delete for leg space for my 6'5" father in-law. He says it's a bunch more comfortable.
I left the center console in the Turbo, though. Both have their benefits.
@OnlyoneTarga4.0 Is that a FSI build? I had thought about adding the "S" badge to my 3.8L build...More pics of the white targa, please!

Wow, I have a 17 month wait until mine makes the same journey.
I can't imagine how exciting this is!
I've been wondering the same thing...what will I drive.

A substitute driver I was thinking of is a Panamera with an MT. Apparently there are only 150 in the US. I haven't had any luck finding one. Maybe something like a Jetta sport wagon if it was going to be used by my kids. It's a little sporty, quite practical, and pretty reliable.

There's a Panamera manual? Never even knew that was the case. The real question - would it be similar to the manual Cayenne GTS?
@golock911 Are you going for the 4.0 FSI? Are you doing the Stage II?

This car will get the 3.8 Stage1. I'm not going to track a cabriolet. My primary concern is that it will work well until I'm done here, 20-30 years. The other concern is the potential conflict with CARB. Need to appear stock or you fail emissions. Grr...

Well last year flew by.(thankfully)
Lets hope that 2021 & most of 2022 fly by for me.
In the meantime, I want to hear all about yours when you get it back!

Race Car
Completely took apart the gauge cluster to get the main PCBA out.
Going to solder a couple flying leads to the SMT LED mounted on the main cluster circuit board that indicates a CEL so I can then solder them to a through hole LED I'll mount somewhere I'm going to be able to see it since the one in the cluster will be completely blocked by my AIM dash. Then if the unthinkable happens and the CEL....comes on - I can choose to ignore it instead of being totally oblivious to its existence
Ya know, totally normal stuff.
My car is 1 million pieces at the moment - not a pretty sight.
