What did you do to your 996 today?

LOL, your the perfect candidate to use adult diapers, they work great laying them down first, get the square one's , not the slip on. I use them on all oil changes.

Am I the only guy here who would rather spill oil on the garage floor than be seen buying adult diapers?

If I'm pulling out the 1/4" ratchet, its going to suck....
Replaced my cracked, duct taped oil fill tube - got lucky, was not too bad. Soaked the alternator bushing in PB blaster for 1/2 hour and it moved the little bit needed with a couple taps. Just shifted the alternator out of the way as opposed to removing it... Lot of blind work but not too bad if you make sure to NOT DROP ANYTHING.
Cleaned the manifolds, crossover, plenum and TB from my oil issue at the track and put everything back together. Side note, the plenum sucks... About 1 out of 3 times it just slides back together so easy - the other 2 - lot of wrestling.
After I got the duct taped oil fill tube out I put my AOS tester cap on and plugged the other end and blew into it, sure enough - not air tight. I'm thinking its a possibility that this leak could have thrown off my last AOS test into thinking it was within spec when it was not.
I'm going to smoke test today, possible give it a warm up drive to re-run the test.
Look ! no duct tape !

Bought a 2003 cabriolet a week ago. Got about 20 miles of quality time with my daughter before the alternator died. One by one all the warning lights came on. Made use of the wife's AAA card and put it on a flat bed and sent to the closest Porsche dealer. Waiting in the shipper's cue to get her home. Looking forward to working on it. Oil change and maybe send out a sample. New belt and alternator for sure. Needs a set of new rear tires too. I knew what I was getting into so not really surprised. Would rather be wrenching than doing yard work....

LOL never done that myself, best friend wife is a nurse, when folks die, they can't restock diapers, they have have to be thrown away, so instead we get them by the boatload. keep the garage floor and driveway spotless.

I did my first radiator clean-out today. It was daunting to remove the bumper cover but not too difficult. I’m glad I did it.
Clearly the previous owner had not done it for a long time. I took a full dustpan of junk out including leaves, rocks, dead bugs, feathers(!), part of a cigarette package, and a whole ATM receipt that was wedged behind the radiator. That doesn’t include all the dust and crap I blew out with the air compressor.

I finally decided to do this:
The top hole is completely open.
I got this far.(Took me about 20 minutes)
Decided I‘ll do the cutting and removal tomorrow evening.
I‘ll probably complete it then too.
Next comes going through the console to repair the other door.
That one is in much worse condition I’m pretty certain.
It’s the one that bothers me most!
The front windshield Frosts up so I can’t see during the summer.
I decided to do the easy one first.
Edited to add:
I just can’t sit and relax.
I just had to go do this real quick:
Now I’m inside the house relaxing...by fixing the door.
Yet Another Edit:
Blend door is back in the car.
I stopped short of reinstalling the battery, plastic cowling, and wiper arms.
Yeah, I can’t sit still
Time for a shower before I go back out and finish...and test drive...and start the other blend door...

Ha! I'm sure there are others just like us.
I installed the plastic cowling this morning in my PJs.
Now I just need to install the battery and wiper arms.
The AC is back on in the garage this morning.
The AC circuit breaker kept blowing yesterday after 100+ hours of running with no issues.
What sucks is that breaker runs my deep freezer and garage lighting too.
When it finally cools off in the fall/winter, I'm going to run a dedicated 30A circuit to my AC like I did for my air compressor!
So hopefully it will be a comfortable(dry) 79 degrees in there tonight after I finish work and can get back to wrenching.
I plan on finishing this job and starting the other blend door repair.
