I'm going to test and see if my IAT are any different.
Maybe even do a dyno to see if there is a difference.
I'll probably wait until next year when it is warmer...and hopefully COVID-free.
I also did the orange cap mod and cold startup sounded great.
Hope to take it for a run tomorrow.

FYI. The 3.8 snorkel does fit if you get creative with the SAI mount, and the 3.8 bellow (997-110-250-00) snaps in perfectly to the 996 deck lid.
Ok, thanks.
I have the Fabspeed air pump relocation kit.
i had to trim the top of my 996 snorkel.
Took off about and inch and a half other wise it was flush with the upper fiberglass.
I’m not sure if that is because of the 997 airbox being taller, or if it is because of the Taco rear deck.
I also had to widen the notch on the bellows because the fiberglass is thicker than the factory sheet metal.
It kept popping off, but now seems to be clipped in better.

My shift boot silver bezel had somehow gone missing before I bought the car from the previous owner. Always bugged me. But the trim piece was only available with the whole boot/**** assembly and Porsche tax was like $1,000! Found a used one from a 5 Speed Boxster on EBay this week for $90. Easy enough to razor blade the leather off of the 5 spd **** and zip tie it to mine. Looks so much better now.
I took mine for a nice drive.
My 996 really enjoyed the cold 64° weather. (Cold for this area that is)
Oh the noise from the exhaust is nice.
I haven’t used the radio in a LONG time.
I captured some cold and warm starts from inside and outside.
I‘ll try to edit them and post when I get a chance.
Went to change the oil while parked for the winter and could not get the drain plug out. It started to strip the allen head, so I stopped. Now I am stuck. I don't have any welding equipment (or know-how to weld) and I really don't want to hammer on the drain plug for fear of damaging the oil pan in this wonderful NH cold weather. Grrr......
And double grrr.... as the Porsche gods rewarded me for buying a car with a fresh engine. As mentioned before the tip tranny leaks fluid from a seam in the front case. Well, the last drive before parking it the transmission slipped quite badly when I got on the accelerator. There's nothing like seeing 7k on the tach while still traveling at 50 mph. Now I am waiting for a response from a shop to see if they will take apart and fix the transmission. If they do, then I'll have to pull the engine and tranny and bring just the tranny to them. At least 3 Porsche indy shops in my area don't touch automatic transmissions. It may be the tranny slipped because it is now low on fluid, but I still need to get that leak fixed.
Here is what I've learned with the LN Engineering drain plug. Yes, it is hardened and magnetic, two pluses. But for some reason on my sump pan, with a new washer and proper torque, it will weep some oil. Been through many oil changes. So here is what I do. LN Engineering drain plug, new aluminum drain plug gasket, Q-tip and smear a tiny amount of black gasket maker on the washer, install finger tight and then a quick quarter turn tight, never weeps or leaks. All done.
Good to know. Any idea where to get the aluminum gaskets? Are they the same as the stock ones? LN sells them but it's well under their order minimum and I don't need anything else from them right now.
Not exactly today, but last weekend I finally installed the Numeric Racing Shifter on my '02 Targa. Drove it on Sunday and worked out a few kinks over the weekend. Basically I didn't realized the adjustments that could be made where the stock cables mount initially. This caused reverse to be unreachable in the shortest throw. So I left it in the medium throw and enjoyed the sh*t out of it last Sunday. The shifter is truly a game changer. Bolt action rifle shifts and utter confidence boosting really changed my driving game and I had the best drive I've had in this car in the three months I've owned it.
After talking to Numeric and realizing my mistake with the cables, I was able to adjust it down to the shortest throw and drive it around this week. A noticeable difference for sure and I'm really excited for tomorrow's canyon run to see if I'll enjoy it that little margin more.
Here's the full video of the install which should help with any gotchas people might experience. Absolutely worth the money, this shifter. Especially at the Black Friday price :-D
Got my car back from the dealer yesterday. Been jonesing for weeks to drive it as I’ve only had it in my possession for a few days since taking delivery early November. Had some work done at a couple of different places to get it just right. Was a perfect driving day here in Oklahoma today. Snow tomorrow. Took wifey out for a spirited run, and then ran a few errands. I need a bigger garage 😎
