The previous owner had the IMS retro kit done so may not need one (according to the mechanic he has not seen a LN IMS fail) So with that said, does a repair estimate of about $4,500 sound reasonable to you guys?
Mine is in for an AOS right now. My Indie shop has quoted 8 hous of labor for that plus the part total for that is $1300.00
Seems strange that the RMS was not done when the IMS solution was done. Easy to do with the transmission out of the way.

Depending upon when the IMS was done, you may need to do it again.
I wouldn't do RMS and not do IMS unless it was done VERY recently. (Consider The IMS Solution and never have to replace it again)
$4500 for IMS, RMS, AOS, and clutch sounds about right. (I would SERIOUSLY consider getting the UAOS)

What is your 1st gear issue, pop-out?
If so, I think the 1st and second gear detent is the same, so I'd just install a GBOX detent and see if that fixes it before opening the gearbox.

RMS was done at the same time as IMS, just looks like its started to leak again. Breaking down the quote, they are estimating $1300 for the RMS AND $1250 for repairing the trans and about $1500 estimated in parts for the trans that includes a worst case scenario

Occasionally I will get a crunch like noise when I select 1st gear. Here's what he suggested "If you do some research on the transmission you will see a lot about the pinion head bearing failure. I don't hear that noise and I would have to inspect the trans when its apart. In your case so far its the 1st gear synchro sleeve or assembly. I would at least repair that and inspect the others." Later on he mentions " The big question would be the 1st gear assembly may need replacement which I have to include in the estimate, I don't think just the synchro rings are going to do it."

https://www.gboxweb.com/detent.html
This often fixes 2nd gear popout.
My second gear would pop out occasionally and was also occasionally making a loud crunch when going into gear when cold.
I believe the same detent is for 1st and 2nd gear, but normally 2nd gear problems appear before 1st gear.
I'm not certain it will solve your issue, especially if the crunch always happens, but it isn't very expensive and is not too difficult to install.
It's not a bad idea to have anyways.

Note: I am NOT a transmission expert.

What particular symptoms were showing that the AOS needed replacement?

It didn't have any. But being 20 years old and not having a very detailed service history (I only got it in November) I thought it was a good idea as preventative maintenance. I already got the IMS bearing done and the RMS.

OEM, OEM, OEM. Lol.

It is an anniversary edition so comes with GT3 Sides, Turbo Front end from the factory. I swapped out the Anniversary Edition Lip with an OEM Aero Lip.

I just had my AOS done for the same reason. Also, it was smoking (it seemed like) at start up more and more recently with no oil loss. Hope it helps!
Note: Dealer and Indy both said the smoking was normal and do not worry🤷🏻‍♂️

New tires - Michelin PS4S 225/40/18 and 285/35/18

Replaced an absolutely smoked set of Sumis that came on the car when I bought it.

I just had 6 new plugs and tubes, New AOS and Intake Manifold Gasket, New Vacuum Tank, New Oil filler Tube and Tube Seal, A new x Vacuum fitting and 4 new rubber line connectors.
This was all done at an Indy Shop and will pick it up in a couple of hours and then off for a long spirited drive.
Next on the list is to do a Gondo / Fister hack which I will attempt to take off the Muffler's on Sunday and bring back to the shop I work in to do all the cutting an welding. Hope fully after that is done it wont sound like an asthmatic frog anymore.
I will try and take pictures and document as I go and If I do do that then I will post it back on here.

^^^ if the transmission is already out, the RMS is a $30 part, and it takes about 1/2hr tops to replace... They’re going to charge you $1300 for that? I’d call that Larceny! 😉👍
