Perhaps not based on your hypothetical. The trims I think I recall were the Targa and perhaps GT3. Targa being very low production and GT3 being years away from the next revision so in those cases, demand continued.

Plenty of individuals, myself included. First and foremost I have zero desire to be a beta-tester for PAG.

The Base = PDK only and it is not going to see a that large of a bhp increase to surpass a current C2S, but it will certainly see a weight increase via 48v. A rumored minimum of 65 lbs. Weight is always the enemy.

If for someone reason a base 992.2 and a manual 992.1 C2S, both happened to be sitting on a showroom floor, unsold, I am taking the manual C2S all day, everyday.

Umm, me. Have a 7MT C2S coming in August.

Not even a difficult choice really.

Don't forget with the 992.2 you are loosing pure ICE, no more Le Mans ignition key, analog tachometer, etc. For many trading those up for a slight power increase is a non-starter. I really hope the Le Mans ignition remains.

Newer does not always equal better.

Only those who need an S badge and don't know any better.

But the dealer-specced leftovers surely won't have three pedals.

I took the comment as being figuratively and not being literal in the sense that the conversation was leaning towards the two being built in tandem during the overlapping transition. If I walked into the dealer and knew about the 992.1 S for example and also I had the option to order the Base. 2, I would personally take the .1 w/ manual.

(1) Sounds a bit like S envy from where I am sitting and/or justification of not owning one.

(2) Nothing new as it has pretty much been that way since the PDK arrived on the scene in the fall of 2008 via the 997.2.

.

Do people get their jollies off having an S vs a base? I feel like the brokest dude at cars and coffee with my S….not that I really care, but an S in the grand scheme of things is not very brag-able

Very true, especially when parked amongst a sea of GT Porsches in a designated PCA corral.

I guess it depends on the region. In mine, no one cares whether its a base, S, or GTS. Unless it's a RS, no one really pays attention and even then, everyone walks away as soon as whatever Pagani or Koenigsegg shows up.

If Porsche was smart they’d offer a “heritage dash package” that included an analog tach.
