What will be interesting is the pricing. I could easily see a "basic" build costing $180-$190K, which less than a handful of years ago is what the MSRP on a GT3 Touring would cost. Meanwhile the GT3s will probably start in the 210s/220s. Inflation is a hell of a thing...

Excited for the NA 3.6L GTS

Basically from C&D article:
Base Carrera - no change except more power
Carrera S - 3.0 turbo flat 6 with 48v battery
Carrera GTS - 3.6 N/A flat 6 with 48v battery
Carrera Hybrid model - 3.0 flat 6 and hybrid tech. This model will bridge power gap between S / GTS and Turbo models.

If these changes are all true....I suspect a GTS with a NA motor will become uber coveted with extravagant ADMs to match. The article also mentioned that the 3.6 NA will eventually replace the 3.0 TT engine so does that mean the 994 will be all NA besides the Turbo models? Interesting theory...

48v = mild hybrid technology via an electric motor affixed to the transmission. I have driven many of these “mild hybrid” vehicles by another German automotive manufacture located in Bavaria and that gets a hard pass from me. Full ICE with a manual transmission or no sale.

I read it as an NA ICE with T-HEV. If that's the case I'm still happier with my 3.0 ICE only model.

I dont think its even that, the T-HEV sounds like a separate model that will be paired with the 3.0t. the article says the 3.6 will be paired with a regular 48v mild hybrid system.

It does seem like this article is all speculation based on dealer sources though.

So does that could potentially mean GTS and S = mild hybrid = no manual transmission available, leaving manual option for base, T, and maybe GT3 models only. Unless of course they just make manual available for all with the concession of having to delete the efficiency of a 48v mild hybrid system? So it would be mean if you want PDK, you are stuck with mild hybrid and if you want manual, you can't have mild hybrid.

There seems to be some confusion in this article...variable-vane VTCI sounds like a turbocharged engine. Also, the horsepower/tq figures quoted for for the THEV system are 478/475 yet when they get into specifics about the Base/S/GTS the numbers are different. It seems to me that this article has combined a bunch of rumors from different sources and combined them.

I think one thing the article doesnt make clear enough is the T-HEV system seems to be for a separate model range, not the S/GTS. The T-HEV is 400v while the S/GTS are said to get 48v mild hybrid.
