I would never brag about any car, just not my style. But, I do feel being in a position to buy an S is an envious spot in life. Very few people can afford any modern 911. Have my 3rd S on order now, my first manual 911. Always felt lucky to drive these cars. I’m sure the .2’s will be amazing, I will probably skip that model and wait for the 994. Either way, the manual S, ICE will stay with me as it’s the last of an era! Get them while you can boys!

Not even a difficult choice really.
Well August is one thing, there won't be any .2 deliveries by August I would think. But into calendar year 2025, will they still be selling the .1s as 2024s?

Considering the .2 Base and S will be PDK only, like I said, easy choice. I have no interest in a PDK Porsche (yes I know the PDK is amazing but let’s not turn this into a manual vs PDK debate).

I understand, some people will always want the newest thing. Have at it.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if the MSRP of the .2 Base is +/- $1k of the current MSRP of an S.

Well, they/them has an aerokit, so it's basically a GT3.

It's ok - the guys in regular models are more apt to be cooler people. Haven't you noticed how most GT drivers are douchebags?

A large number of local 992 GT owners are retired physicians in their 70s and 80s.

And a large number of local GT owners are douchebags who brag that their car is "gated".

I think the S trim has lost its "value" over the years.

Upto the 997 gen, the base and the S had a different engine (3.8l vs 3.6l) but now they're basically the same 3.0 turbo engine with a different ECU.

Then there are also other models like the T and GTS which are more focused and driver oriented than the S. It has become a half-assed trim IMHO.

Not surprised Porsche isn't releasing the S at the launch of the 992.2. Who knows? They may have ditched the S grade once and for all

Gt3 is just 520hp I think
T + gt3 only models with manual
base is 390 or 395 hp with old 3.0 engine, s 510, gts 540, gt3 520, tops (turbo s) 710, base turbo no clue - that was initial info from ~a year ago.
what does 710/ 2,6 mean?

haha!!!!! I can’t believe anyone wouldn’t think this isn’t a pretend manual shifter. That part underneath it is actually called a manual shift boot.

The Base and S have different turbochargers, brakes, suspension etc. S and GTS share the same engine/turbo setup while the S (SPASM) and T share suspension. The S is actually exactly what it should be, slotting between the T and GTS. T isn't necessarily any more "driver oriented" than the S in a respective spec - think of the S as a T with a GTS engine and larger brakes.

FYI, the 997.2 engines were 3.6 and 3.8 while the 997.1 was 3.4 and 3.6.

The turbos are different between a base/T (smaller) and an S (larger). It is not just the ECU tuning. A C2S Coupe allocation is still one of the most desired as well as difficult to come by.

I know the turbo charger is different.

My opinion is, the base engine with a smaller turbine has better response at lower rpms which gives it a NA like feel to it (ie less turbo lag).

The 992.2 S will allegedly have the 48v motor to compensate for the lag.
