I don’t think he’s trying to be rude, I think he feels the leather interior adds so much to the cabin ambience and experience that he doesn’t want people to leave it off their builds just to save what is a relatively small amount of money considering the amount already being spent on the car. Just my interpretation, don’t kill the translator.
Because you've had it. And I agree. My first 911 was spec'd with full leather in light grey. I would never have ordered it that way. I was replacing a '98 corvette with a '99 911...I didn't know any better. Once I had full leather, I feel like I couldn't live without it. 24 years later every car has had it. A new 911 with standard interior will be a new 911 to someone who hasn't been spoiled. And I really mean this in the best possible way. He has plenty of time to buy a car in the future with whichever options he decides are worthwhile. I more agree with his argument of he is spending what he feel comfortable spending over the next guys argument that an option is just too heavy!
Yeah, my problem with the standard interior is the plastic dash that always within your view. Upgrading it to a full leather give you a leather dash that makes the car feel like a 100K+ car.
I wish standard interior would just come with a leather dash but I suspect Porsche did that to push people into getting the full leather interior for $$$.

My 997 S had the standard interior, I thought it was fine. I loved that car and it basically had no options.
My Macan Turbo had the leather interior and I remember it being really nice, but the black on black stitch and leather didn't make such a substantial impact on me - I had a few loaners with the standard interior and it was worse but I really didn't notice after the first time I got in.
My 981 Boxster had the standard interior. Again, I didn't mind it.
My 981 Boxster S had the natural leather espresso interior. That was really nice, and coming fresh out of the base it was noticeable seeing how much leather was added. Again, I stopped noticing it after I started driving and didn't think about it so I ordered the standard interior in my 718.
My 718 T has the standard interior because I built a T ethos car - only optioned full bucket seats, paint, racetex wheel and gear lever (required for buckets) and the extended tank. Honestly had no issues until I looked in a leather package 718 and it was much much nicer - to the point where it bothered me how bad my door panels especially looked in comparison.
I've been in a lot of 992s and the standard interior is actually really good compared to the 718. Looks modern, materials feel nice but the texture of the plastic dash is still there. I sat in a leather 992 recently and it looked so much more premium that I felt like it should be the standard in these cars, and added it to my T build when I got my allocation.
I have to confess, I started all this when I mentioned I was debating if I really needed it. I like randomly debating the necessity of options I have picked when I'm bored or in a mood to get lost in the configurator for a while, and yesterday morning it was "do I really need leather" vs the other day when it was "do I really want to spend that much on paint when I could just order the easy to scratch black and wrap it something unique for about the same cost?" I did set a budget cap for this car because I don't want to overoption it but for things I determine are important I'll break it (ruby, buckets, leather, extended tank, rear steer were my must haves) but it keeps me from adding things like extended deviated stitching or aerokit when I know I'll be happy with the car without them
1 x 981 2 x 718's all with 18 ways and all with full leather in different variations, GTS had the full GTS interior as a GTS should, S had the extended leather & Sport-Tex option and the Boxster had full extended Luxor Beige paired with Mahogany metallic paint. It's hard to give up something you've always had, but i get it for those who haven't had it or aren't bothered.
The best example of a python green car with lizard green interior stitching/belts/gauges I have found is this turbo that was for sale. The pictures are still a bit blown out at parts, as cell phone cameras tend to do. Still worth a look for those debating the combo.
Thank you for this. Great find. I'm sticking with the T interior. I know the stitching will look good and think the belts will too. If not, it's a $350 fix to swap in black ones myself. More if I want to preserve the green belts I guess.
I just got confirmation my 992 T will arrive at the dealer end of February. Good news !
I was also just in time to change 1 new option that I have not seen before. Because I have the Race-Tex rooflining and sunvisors I added this part as well. Anyone seen this before?

I was at my dealership today and looked at a GT4RS... carbon fiber. ohhhhh. purdy. Now I'm thinking about the CF roof for looks on my Python Green, and Ethos of the T 4lb reduction. lol. Plus the wow factor and conversation piece at Cars & Coffees as pointed out earlier. But is that worth $4k?
I plan on a custom over the top motorsport agate gray stripe too, but wouldn't do that over the CF roof.
Thoughts on CF roof?
It's been a must-have for me since the config came out. I love the look and without saying the 'e' word, I think it is a light weight (albeit not much) feature that is in line with what this car is about.
I've tried not to concentrate on the prices of any option I wanted, knowing that the overall package is what counts, and I want this car exactly how I want it!

I have it spec'd on mine, haven't had experience with it before but my house has a prominent apron into the garage and I need all the help I can get for pulling in and out of there. 16" drop over a 60" run from the alley, fine for the Defender but for the 911 not ideal!

I will not be speccing the lower sports design bumper, I believe FAL is required for that, after seeing standard bumpers at my opc it's no lower than my previous 718 GTS which I had no problems with.
I suppose it's upto your needs and requirements but it's additional weight and cost that you may not need

I live in New England (Boston Area)... We have terrible roads here, but luckily the pitch of driveways or entrances into businesses isn't all that steep in my experience the places that I drive, and mostly using the car for driving out of the city... When I used to live in California, I would scrape the bumper on just about EVERY non SUV car I owned. I would absolutely option it if I was still in the Bay area, but thankfully dont feel the need. I think the GPS lift option is pretty cool though!!

I own a Taycan and live in the midwest where it is very flat. That being said we do have some wacky approach angles on some of our parking ramps. When I first collected the Taycan I used the lift option quite a bit, but since I'm a working stiff I tend to repeat the same drive to work and same drives around town I rarely use it now. I have found that if I approach with an angle, I can usually avoid a scrape. I'm leaning toward the sports design package with the T and will be taking it on more adventurous drives where I don't know the topography as well so I will likely add FAL. If I wasn't doing the sports design and planned to take the car out on drives I was generally familiar with I may be tempted to skip FAL based on my Taycan experience. A few times in the Taycan I had some unexpected scrapes but wouldn't have thought to use the lift in those cases. Upon reflecting I think my approach speeds were just a bit too quick and I wasn't approaching or exiting at an angle. Regardless, none of those caused any particular damage aside from raising my heart rate momentarily!
