I honestly can’t fathom someone watching a Doug review and liking it. It’s not just his voice, it’s the deliberate stretching of the content to make longer videos, using far too many words to describe often irrelevant aspects of the vehicle. Some people have a face for radio; Doug has a voice for print.

Most of us here are buying the car for ourselves and driving them as a gratitude for being lucky enough to share this car passion.

Of course if you don’t care about the leather just stick to your T ethos. Still to some of us plastic in such an expensive car is a bridge to far. The 992 T is the only car who can pull this of where it’s about the sheer driving pleasure and low cost 911 ethos. I get this. But don’t get the “my strict budget”.

About the exterior I just want to add that almost every 911 is equipped with the sport design package. You want something really special? Go for the standard bumpers. Every GTS has the sport package and most S versions all spec them. You want the T ethos then go for the straight line bumpers.

Free saving advice
Im having a hard time understanding what you don't get about the word "budget". Im a Financial Advisor in my 30's who's worked hard to put enough money aside to buy a new 911. I don't have an unlimited budget and I have no intention of going into debt to build an extravagant build that I don't need. The T is the perfect 911 for me because its what I can afford at this time in my life with the features I want, and what I've determined fits with my future spending and savings intentions. I recognize that I am incredibly fortunate to be able to afford what I've ordered, but I also know that its the wrong decision personally for me to take out a large loan or pull more from an investment account to go above what amount i've budgeted. Sure at the end of the day, you could finance, increase the build price, and yes over a multi year loan we are talking about insignificant amount of money, but I don't want to do that, especially in current interest rate environment.
What are you not understanding?

About that green car: the green press car did not have the orange flashlights and hat the carbon roof. So it must be a different and US spec car!

You were able to save $130.000 but are not able to save $4000 more for leather because it’s that last 4% that will make you go bankrupt? It’s a serious question. Am not trying to be rude or something.

Everyone has some price cap, I still don't know what you're not understanding. At this point you're starting to be rude.

I don’t think he’s trying to be rude, I think he feels the leather interior adds so much to the cabin ambience and experience that he doesn’t want people to leave it off their builds just to save what is a relatively small amount of money considering the amount already being spent on the car. Just my interpretation, don’t kill the translator.

Everyone has a threshold, and sticking to it requires discipline.

Otherwise it's a slippery slope.

Sure, 4k is not a big deal in isolation -- its only 4% of the total purchase price. Once you justify that, then maybe you look at deviated stitching for another, say, 5k, and heck that's ok because it's only another 4% of the (new) total purchase price. And so on and on. Where does it stop?

Of course, most anyone who can buy a $130k car and afford another 4k in options, but that isn't the question.

It's not whether you can afford to get it, but whether you should be getting it. And if you've set a budget for yourself then the answer to the second question should be "no" if you have any sense of financial discipline, or just discipline generally.

I was told the car at PECLA is the same car from the LA autoshow. Something I checked for specifically was the sport exhaust button situation. This car had black exhaust tips (not chrome) and did have the sport exhaust button. Furthermore, if anyone was on the fence about the T interior package in slate gray, I would recommend against it. The stitching is so dark that it is very difficult to distinguish from the black leather. On the other hand, I am sure that the PG stitching will be gorgeous for those of you that spec it!

Look at the risk of going too far down a rabbit hole (i've already gone further than I'd like)... some people, myself included have many things we are saving for in our lives. Its not an inability, and I'm not arguing with you that yes, If I really wanted leather or some other option there are ways to figure out how to make it work. For me, Im not going to spend money on additional features that I don't think will make my car more valuable to me or increase its resale value at some point when and if I ever decide to do that. I dont have an unlimited budget, I have other goals in life, I think you are trying to make a point that % wise we are talking about minor increases for options... Just not interested in going over a certain $$ amount, and even if I could, some of these options just dont make sense for the car I want anyways.
I'm going to leave it at that and look forward to continuing to discuss the wonderful builds others are considering, and enjoy debating features/options/colors etc

Here is my current build, after a lot of thinking over the last month I dont think I am going to change anything, so feel free to roast. Also keep in mind I have agreed to pay a markup in order to secure the allocation, hoping to have it reduced when the car arrives but I am also trying to be positive that I am getting the car built exactly how I want. Two weeks to freeze.

Looks great! Just a word of caution on the exclusive design rims. In person they can look a touch too big. I've seen them paired with Gentian and I think the contrast of dark paint to light rims reduces the size perception but I would encourage you to check them out in-person in case you've not

There is an art to speccing these cars. And one aspect of the art is knowing when to say when. No one but the builder can know where the line is.

Congrats @adm63 You are going to love Gentian. I absolutely loved my gentian, and how "purple" it looked in certain lights and then completely changed to electric blue in others. I just like the purple end of the spectrum more haha. I love the look of those wheels and think they will look nice on your build... Look forward to seeing this one around the Boston area... will keep my fingers crossed for you on the future negotiation. I hope they are willing to give you a bit of a break if the markets turn in your favor, but time will tell.
