Lots of our customers drive around with the plate off and if stopped tell the police that they forgot to put it on after washing and its a quick roadside fix with no ticket. The police will not accept a plate in the window or sun visor but our mount adheres to all international front plate display and mounting regulations meaning that the chances of getting a ticket are slim if you do a roadside fix.

Does this work with the Aerokit ?

Yes it does work with the aerokit. The only vehicle it does not work with is the Turbo that has the active aero front splitter. An application for these vehicles is in the works and due to be released May 2021

I bit the bullet and attached mine with the stock mount plate.... First time since 2005.

Blue shield tones it down a bit.... Still Fugly as can be...

It is shocking that Porsche would not take into account the size of North American license plates for the 992. Cars with ACC and front cameras really only have one central place to fit the plate making it impossible for the top edge of the plate to be significantly above the leading edge of the nose.

I have no front license plate. Police in Texas will always tell you that it's required and will give you a warning.
If I ever do get a ticket, I will pay the fine. But, no front plate for me.

Virginia passed a law in 2020 that Police can no longer stop you for things such as no front plate, tinted windows, loud exhaust or any other equipment issue as a primary reason for pulling you over. Now, they can still ding you for no front plate if you are speeding, as the speed is the primary violation.

I hope that's the case but the way the law is written it seems that they can no longer pull you over for not having a light illuminating the license plate, not the lack of a front plate altogether. I hope I'm wrong.

It applies to all equipment on the car, of which it can successfully argued no front plate is one of them. I have three Porsches in Virginia, none wear a front plate. Interesting in that bill about having weed in the car, too! Long as you are not running red lights or speeding, etc, you are good to go.

I wonder how $279 for the Carbonio compares to the fines for a couple of tickets for not having front plates?

It depends where you live. In most parts of the US the ticket for no front plate is anywhere from $80-$150. In Switzerland no plate can land you a road side seizure of your car and some pretty hefty fines. Some people just don't want to be looking over their shoulder every time they see a Police car while not boring holes into the bumper of their car.

Not trying to pick a fight, but Drcollie is mistaken. The new law is clearly limited to taillights and illumination of the rear license plate. It says nothing about front plates. Now, to be clear, as you can see from my prior posts I too eschew mounting the front plate unless I am pulled over or otherwise ticketed and forced to do so. But as of today, in the Commonwealth of Virginia, it is perfectly legal for a peace officer to pull me (and you) over if the only violation he/she observes is a missing front plate from my vehicle. Such is life. But fear not, there's no need to drill visible holes in your bumper. See my other post about mounting with hidden screws. Works like a charm.

Well, your opinion. However I have spoken with two police officers in Fairfax County this week on this and other topics and they clearly told me this law prevents them from pulling over a motorist from any kind of equipment violation on a vehicle, which includes a front license plate. They are secondary infractions only that they can write you for AFTER pulling your over for speeding, reckless driving, running a light, etc. But believe what you like RDV.
