It does sit low. In my photo, you will see that I could probably adjust it up a little, but not much. So if you are already close to scraping the front on driveways/bumps, this will be an issue. I have front axle lift, but still, an inch lower may become an issue. Otherwise it's a great product. Easy to install and remove.

Carbonio, if you're still tracking this, I don't know why you couldn't align the bottom of the plate holder (the part you screw the plate into) sitting higher on the clamp assembly. Surely that would reduce the overhand by 50%. Could also have structured it so that the arms that emerge from under the front lip are horizontal rather than vertical and curving upwards. I'm grateful that you gave it a good shot, but for the money, I wish it didn't hang so low.

I managed to get a small front number plate mount which was only available from Porsche parts in Germany. It drops much better than the standard UK length plate holder.

Very nice...do you have a part number or link to share? Wonder if it would hold a US plate. Possibly maybe with double sided tape also or other means.

Yes mine's held on with double sided tape, even with a slight curve to it.
I don't think I have the part number, I will double check though as my sales guy got it through his parts team. If your parts department contacted Germany and asked for the short number plate holder I'm sure they'd be able to send it over.

Lots of our customers drive around with the plate off and if stopped tell the police that they forgot to put it on after washing and its a quick roadside fix with no ticket. The police will not accept a plate in the window or sun visor but our mount adheres to all international front plate display and mounting regulations meaning that the chances of getting a ticket are slim if you do a roadside fix.

Ugh....no.

I don't run a front plate, though its required. Last time I was ticketed for no plate was in 2008, $ 75 fine beats that ugly metal thing hanging off the front every day. Gladly pay it every few years. (My wife won't run one on the front of her Macan for the same reason)

FYI It's illegal for manufacturers to charge extra for a legally required feature, such as a rear view camera, air bags, or a front license plate holder. In fact dealers can be fined for releasing a car without a front license plate in states that require it which is why they make you sign a waiver to do it, which in all likelihood would mean nothing if challenged. You can't have someone sign a document stating you give them permission to break the law on your behalf.

Having said that I haven't had a front plate on any of my cars in California for 20 years, with no issues. I have heard airport parking is the most likely place here to get ticketed, the solution for which I presume would be not to park front outwards.

No front license plate for me.

I've been told that if I park in Chicago I will get ticketed.

But out here in the burbs they aren't militant about it, so that's how it goes for now.

See my rho-plate 992 installation pic here: https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1209...l#post16902008 . It continues to work well with my surround camera.

So here's my "Plan" for a Front License Plate wannabe.

I made a template for the passenger side space in the Center Grill when equipped (as mine is) with ACC.

My "Plan" is to scan my License Plate (when I get it), resize it to fit this template, print a full color picture, laminate it and then install it in this spot.

I may of course decide against this "Plan" upon further reflection.

In any case, others may find a use for this template for one purpose or another. I've attached a pdf file of the image below. If you print the image or the pdf file so the black square measures 1" by 1" the template will be sized correctly.

If you get pulled over for speeding, and the cop also notices that you don't have a front plate, I think it greatly diminishes the chances that you can talk him into a warning instead of a ticket. Even with that being true, I have never put a front plate on any of my Porsches and have only collected two fines over these years. But as I await my 992, I'm thinking that I better put that front plate on, because the chances of getting a ticket in that car are pretty substantial. It's not the cost of the ticket that I mind, but rather the fact that if you get a couple of tickets in a three year period, you come dangerously close to getting your license suspended if you get a third one. A suspended license would be a tragedy.
