Anyways, everyone here has been really helpful with their experiences and contributions. Should be a lot more pleasant again going forward.
Agreed. got to the point of just ignoring his posts.

It's as if a veil has been lifted on this thread and certainly a breathe of fresh air. Looking forward to chatting about our mutual love.

All this talk of BBQ has me wanting more. Thankfully there is a decent place down in South OC, it's not as good as what I've had in Texas but it still hits the spot. I'll take my Touring to pick some up.

Either that or the color hurt their eyes and they couldn't see the BID button.

It's the miles you have in it + what you do with those mile. Unlike air-cooled Porsche which can be fun to cruise and cafe race, GT cars need to be driven hard and should be taken to the track. If you have no time or desire to do this with your touring, then it's like taking a supermodel to McDonalds.

Highway cruising and date nights in a GT cars get old fast... unless you are really into the 'look at me' aspect, but don't think you are.

These cars love to be driven, and driven hard. Give them what they want, and they'll reward you back.

100%.

And once you've experienced the glory of driving them near the limit on the track, they can feel underutilized and bored on the road - at least that's how it is for me with the 991.1 GT3. So maybe it's not a good idea to track the cars, if your main goal is to enjoy them on the road?

OTOH, I'm enjoying my 991.2 TTS on the road more after tracking it, because tracking it showed me how the car will behave near the limit (wonderfully), and that has increased my confidence when driving it hard on the road.

These different experiences with the GT3 vs TTS reinforce to me the thought that the GT3 is fundamentally a track car which can potentially be enjoyably driven on the road, whereas the TTS is fundamentally a road car which can enjoyably be tracked.

And that is exactly why I keep buying GT cars, they LOVE to be tracked and driven hard in the canyons. Best of all, they do not break or go into limp mode when drive hard like some more expensive cars. As long as you take care of the consumables (brake pads, rotors, fluids, etc), GT cars keep going and going and going. I can proudly say that I have tracked every single GT car that I've owned, including my Touring (not as fast in this car because I'm not used to the lack of wing aero).

While I think DD went over the top wrt insulting people here that didn't think like him - I don't think that everyone else here was blameless. People who didn't pay ADM's are calling others "idiots" for paying ADMs. People saying the GT3 market is crashing and anyone who doesn't agree is just getting taken to the cleaners by "stealers" (isn't that a personal attack - do we not have dealers on this forum). People saying the market is going to MSRP or below and "attacking" others who don't agree. Lets not pretend that removing one guy (DD) is going to get this back to being completely civil or a respectful discussion.

I agree that DD wasn't alone in the aspects you note, but he was alone in his level of aggression and insults, to the point of constantly trying to pick fights with people who weren't seeking to fight with anyone.

FWIW, I didn't want to see him banned or even suspended, just wanted him to listen to the moderators and participate in discussions without being so confrontational. I'll speculate that he was banned not just because of his behavior in the threads, but also because he argued with moderators rather than listening to them - it usually takes a lot to get banned (I've been a moderator in cancer forums, where people have to make life and death decisions).

I suspect that he was using this forum as a channel to vent frustrations arising from things going on in his life, and I feel sorry for him. Probably not a bad person at heart.

Sounds like a PDK problem LOL

Kidding aside, I track my touring multiple times a year and drive it every day in between and it is never boring.

I'd certainly like to try a manual 991 or 992 GT3. But since I'm using 991/992 GT cars for the track, I think PDK is fine for those, and I have other manual cars for the road.
