Default Opinion on ADM from Ford and GM

Interesting view from GM and Ford on dealers selling vehicles for more than sticker price. They mention punishing them by limiting their inventory.
Ford estimates that 10% of dealers are charging above sticker price. They disapprove of their dealers charging above MSRP, saying it can reflect poorly on the brand and alienate customers.

I’m looking to pick up a Bronco. Everyone is asking 5-20k over msrp. If you order one then it’s msrp. But ordering one takes 6-12 months.

The market is the market. You can choose to participate or just sit out.

Can Manufacturers alienate Dealers if Dealers alienate the end customers?

‘So basically the Ford letter is BS and not enforceable……….the Porsche letter has been sent to the dealers, and will be hard to enforce the same as Ford.

So if you order a car with Ford and take delivery- it will be msrp. But if they order a car or if you order a car abs do t take delivery and it becomes inventory for them- they sell over sticker.

Im about to pay 9k over sticker for a stupid bronco. Lol.

Just got my update from Porsche Austin -100-125 ADM is their ask for a Touring in their next allocation…. Willing to go to 25k ADM but no more on principle. So will sit for another year on the list. Amazing how fast any sense for building customer relationships across deals has gone by the wayside! As many have said will be interesting to see the backlash when/if the fed takes away the punch bowl, supply chain clears up etc etc.

Were you placed on the list with them with any sense that if/when your number came up there would be no ADM? or minimal ADM?

I think the touring ADMs are distorted by the fact that approximately 0 touring have been delivered to the US market yet. Sure the product was announced last year, but it kinda (in spirit) hasn't even been in production for the US market until now.

No ADM was clear - minimum 20k I believe was our starting point. The clarity is in some ways that the they just hold an XLS list of people who have paid a deposit sorted by their ADM limits.

Good point. We’ll see how it settles out.

Big disparity from $20K to $100K - $120K. By the way, just as general information, on the last TYD update of this past Friday, my touring delivery date got pushed out by a month, and freeze point date by 3 weeks. It's now at the border of '22 and '23 model year, so these delays may add 'fuel to the ADM fire'.

Thanks for the info….. suspect its not the last of any delays…. But I’m patient! Contemplating what I’ll fill the void with!

Went to a dealer recently and salesman offered me winged and wingless allocations without me asking. I was surprised since it was something I had never pursued and I thought they would be all gone by now. After speaking with managers it sounded like they were floating out the possibility of allocation based on what adm I was willing to pay. No proof but if I’m reading this correctly, as long as I was willing to pay, I would be able to jump the line and spec what I wanted. I passed.

When you can buy a base 992 C2 for the ADM cost, you know the ADM is too damn high. This isn't a GT2RS. $20k ADM or thereabouts should be the limit. The market, and inflation, are nuts.
I'm sitting over here with a 991.2 TTS that I got a 10% discount on brand new, and it looks like a steal in this market.

Just goes to show these dealers are sandbagging us on allocations. Some may even be hoarding them for massive ADM pay-ups. f* disgusting.
