That's sad new about Hoosier. I was hoping for a try out on some R7's. Oh well things can change quickly in the tire world. Jon inDelaware

link here: http://driveviper.com/forums/threads...815#post189815

or PM me.

if hoosiers are a no-go, perhaps we can do IMSA continental slicks. I will inquire. if not, makes sense to buy stock in Kumho...

I received a price for the factory wheels at $4950 a set. What is the advantage of the Forgeline wheel?
Definetly interested in the IMSA Slicks .
We have a trailer

John B at Parts Rack has OE wheels for $2449. johnB@PartsRack.com
I have no affiliation. You can find him as a sponsor at the Viper Owners Assoc website. Look under the wheels and tires thread.

Those are for non-ACR wheels. The ACR wheels are much much higher. Remember, the non-ACR OEM wheels will not fit over the front brakes, thus why they went to 19" front and rear. Forgeline does make an 18" wheel that will fit, but the OEM 18" will not.

ACR on full slicks might be faster than a 991 cup.

I can only speak for myself, but as I've stated on other posts my parameter is a STOCK car, from production by the factory. Getting into a "race car" is limitless as far as what you can do, to include a Ferrari Challenge (that one can buy for barely more than this ACR).

The problem isn't slicks for slick's sake, but rather ANY tire that will fit??? There is NOTHING out there is the problem.

I have disappointing news... spoke to Forgeline yesterday and it doesn't appear that Hoosier is even close to making a mold to fit the Viper? Before I bought another set of wheels, I wanted to make sure. So, it looks like all we have is the OEM Ecstas for now. Hope no one else out there is looking to pick any tires up? I just bought last two sets out from Tire rack and their Nebraska warehouse yesterday in prep for Sebring.
Check out Hoossierdirect.com

You can easily use R7: Front 295/30/19 or 315/30/19
Rear 345/30/19
Minor ride height adjustments and you're there. This is a great set-up
Best, Allan

And, you don't need to rebuild your tranny or engine every 100 hours. Nor, need a full crew to help you with your HPDE event.

As a note, Hoosier does make R7 and A7 in a 345/30/19 for rear and a 295/30/19 that could work in the front, you would just have to lower the front a bit to make work to have the rake set appropriately for the 30's series vs the 25 series tire.

Agree, would be great if the made the exact tire sizes and suspect for the ACR, enough of them will burning up tires. I would definitely buy.

Ok, so "I still don't get it?"

Won't the fronts rub w/ the modest increase in profile? Also, doesn't giving up the modest width for the rear mitigate the benefit of Hoosier vs. Kuhmo for grip?

Alan, have you actually tried this yet? Please share your experience if you have? I hear you frequent AMP pretty frequently?
