OT: My full Review of the 2016 Viper ACR

Rumor is that they will pack it in and come back in August. Sad but better to do that than run on a green track and get the true time for all the fans. Especially for those that donated for the effort. Too bad they didn't run last Friday. Weather was gorgeous.

While I'm sure that Yousif Al Abdulah's intentions are good, his post is not accurate. We are here, waiting for the weather to break. We will be at the track every day until Friday,, which is our scheduled departure. If the weather does not cooperate in time, we will schedule times to return as soon as possible. This is a VERY difficult track in which to obtain ANY track time. Please do not believe any rumors that are out there (and there are a lot of them).. Bernie Katz and I will give you the true updates as soon as possible each day. Check the Viper Ring King FB page for additional pictures and updates. Thanks everyone.

thx nuvolari for providing infos!
i´m also scared that the 991 GT2 RS time will be done/published during the efforts of the Viper Team. It will get harder i guess. (hopefully for us RL´isters - regarding the Performante...)

I added stage 2 for 20k it will erase any production cars track time - just saying that the Viper is a standard production car unlike the 2RS or Performante - Viper could have easily added hp and track pack but they chose to only change paint schemes for their final editions.

Looks like the first window they got they went for an attempt. 7:03 is not bad for a first attempt but not the goal I'm sure. I hope they have the time and weather to actually get a good amount of runs in before its all over.

As a Viper owner and same paint scheme GTS-R I am kicking myself for not going.

Day 8: After being here 8 days, we got our first lap today. The ACR-E turned at 7:03.45, right out of the box, which is either the second or third fastest production car lap ever recorded at The Ring, depending on whether you believe that the Lamborghini actually turned a 6:51 with no witnesses and irregularities in their video. We are supposed to get a second lap tomorrow, but it's difficult to be assured of anything until it actually happens. If it rains, we're once again sidelined. Dominik reports that he feels that there is a sub 7:00 lap in the car. Trust me when I say that we are doing everything that we can. If we were to return in August, we would need to crowdfund at least another $50,000 for the unplanned expenses. I'm interested in how the Viper Nation feels about that. By the way, "Road & Track" was blown away. I would say they "get it."

Subaru WRX STI Type RA NBR just did 6:57.5 (two days ago)
https://www.motormag.com.au/news/170...urgring-record
Interestingly the engine is a fettled EJ207 (basically the car has the engine from an unrestricted rally car and a final drive ratio optimised for track, the wing is definitely mechanical and almost certainly can be controlled from the cab).
Still, got to give it to Prodrive and Subaru - always was a great team.
The Viper will break 7mins if it gets the right weather etc. Good for them
Oh and a great review by CJ
