Yeah, good idea. I still have nightmares about the pad and caliper stud install, lol

No fluid loss. No ceramic. Possibly heat. Affected party advised PAG. PAG say not covered by warranty. Affected party bough RB solution below at own cost (not cheap). Everything is good now. Looks like design/durability flaw. Not unique to GT3 as has been shown to happen on other models too. Could be heat but plenty meat in pads. Possibly manufacturing defect. Not common issue known yet but may be one to watch for...

Why did PAG not cover it under warranty?

It's things like this that make me want to stick wth stock pads (then no warranty excuses).

It was factory pads as far as I am aware. It was just an idea for Joe to look into. Its not my car another owner on here who may choose to chime in.

If that was factory pads, I don't see how they would have a case to not cover it, especially if it were in CA which has pretty strict warranty laws.

Canada actually. This was owners statement: "Anyway, Porsche denied warranty on my pistons. They basically said all brake components are wear parts, END OF STORY". Im not agreeing with this just stating facts.

Not first time we've seen crumbling piston inserts. It's heat. Probably doing job as the seals look OK still.

Problem easily fixed on 997 with Brembo TI pistons or PMNA rebuild kits. Since 991ncup uses different brakes now no easy way to get piston replacements outside after market. Unless Brembo has an equivalent size in steel or TI. That blows.

Someone needs to put rotor paint and a caliper temp strip on their 991. These cars are carrying a lot more speed and pace into the corners than the 997. Some pads are well known to transfer a lot of heat into the braking systems.

If anyone is at COTA this weekend I have some brembo paint in my tool box. We can test it out. Will be at thunder hill too in a few weeks.

The new GT3 will be much harder on brakes; it goes faster, weighs more and it's easier to ram the pedal through the floor without having to heel n toe.

I plan to add as much cooling as possible NACA ductss through AWD space and ducts straight through the front bumper and once the caliper rubber seals burn off replace Pistons with Ti pistons. That or a proper caliper upgrade.

I dunno, so far the brakes have worked extremely well for me. Granted I haven't been to Laguna yet, but the brakes have never smoked, never faded, never boiled over, aren't turning color, and the pad and rotor wear looks minimal after 564 track miles. My friend drove the car HARD for 45 minutes/19 laps in a row. The car barely broke a sweat. The only thing that has given up are the tires. I don't see a need up upgrade the calipers yet. Will double check those pucks this weekend and report back.

Fast tracks, lots of Southern heat are not the same as relatively slow CA tracks in wintertime...

Some of the Dubai boys have been piling on the track days in 40C on Yas Marina (fast track). We should ask them.

Fair enough. I guess we'll know more soon enough.
