Frankels still using his notes from the botched Hatz interview...

What sense does it make anyway to base the new 991.2 Turbo charged engines on a 991 GT atmo engine? Different compression, engine speed, no need for expensive titanium con rods etc. Ok, so its a direct injection combustion engine with horizontal configuration. maybe Thats the similarity? Its like saying the new 991 GT3RS runs the same wheels as the 918. No, it runs the same size wheels are the 918.

331 pages, 30 different "rumours" that ignited us. Lets just sit tight for the next 7 days?

But what is allowed and completely at Porsche's discretion is shipping US cars with mounting plates already welded in place. AP said it would be addressed on next (this) RS. We shall see. Tick tock.

It was explained to me when I moved here as a requirement to being able to get people out of the car in an accident if people are wearing harnesses. I can't remember the time requirement, even though a harness is faster when cutting the restraint a 3 point belt is obviously quicker.

Don't know if true, but US could try trusting people not to wear them on the street...

OK so here's some speculation / fodder on the engine side of things.... Had a fun debate on this at the shop last night.

Porsche needs to homologate an engine for racing. The 9A1 platform they haven't gotten to perform at the level they want for endurance racing. This new engine is a hybrid of the Mezger platform and 9A1. Something like a modular Mezger design with DFI, weight reduction, improved castings, and used specifically to allow for homologation of a new engine for racing.

Whatcha think?????

I was told this by somebody from motorsport department a few weeks ago...before private presentation and those leaked spec - actually it seems 90% 9A1 platform but who knows...maybe big surprise in 1 week

as we know gt3-r was postoponed to second half 2015 so something true could be...

Its cute but nonsense. :-) Youll have to just take what Uncle Macca says on good faith BUT THE DAMN ENGINE IS THE SAME AS THE 991 GT3 ENGINE. Full stop!!!!!!!!!!

The changes accommodated in the 991 GT3RS engine relate to the capacity increase it has been subjected to and include the strengthening of related components. The architecture is 100% the same. Its the same engine!

The knowledgeable party portraying this information to me last Nov was very certain about this fact. I dont think they re designed the engine in 3 months!

Now that's no fun! Besides, who says it's only been in design for 3mo, could have been the plan from the start! You know Porsche Motorsports North America is only a few miles from many of the best shops in the US... lots of rumors flow as a result!
