The winner just posted to say he meant to bid $460k. What a mess.

Fee goes to BAT, not the seller. I have paid my fair share to them over the last two years.

That is a mess. He could have retracted his bid as you are allowed to do that... but now he is on the hook for the $5K fee and he will be banned from BAT. And how do you fat finger when you are bidding mid-6 figures? Sloppy.

I have to admit McLaren quality and last round of reviews is bothersome, however worst case scenario new car can be returned for full refund if they can’t fix repeated problems. This is also a 2nd car for me! A few buddies have McLarens and even with the faults, would not replace them because of the driving experience. Porsche GT are at a pinnacle regarding quality, however I am ready for a change and going in with eyes wide open and hoping for the best!

he can probably still have the car for 460k or whatever they work out. BAT/seller might have to disclose if it met the reserve.

Read the sellers comment. It gets better. The buyer’s attorney contacted him and acted like an ***. Sounds like a soap opera. Where is the graph showing how much lawyers are admired? Lol

I have lost almost all my confidence in Bat.

seems a lot of these auctions are just dumpster fires. Don’t know what to believe anymore…

The reality is if people don't think they can drive these for free and/or flip for a profit, the demand sinks significantly which I believe the writing is on the wall for already.

Add on this car is even more unusable than the 991.2 rs (I also ordered new)....These won't be very difficult to get an allocation on after initial deliveries...
lol it's already happening. 100-200k adm puts sales in the suggested range.

250k is low end of 992 GT3 market now, they too were going for 100-200 over.

Many RS builds will sticker upper 200's and into the 300's.

300-350 would mean little to no upcharge. 992 Touring pricing.

992 RS probably isn't my cup of tea either, but that doesn't have bearing on what it would take to get one early on. There will be plenty of guys who want one at least as much as a Merc BS, Huracan STO, 488 Pista, etc.

Over the long-term, well into the production cycle, we'll see. Like I said, have a similar hunch on which RS will end up the more desirable, the better one to own & use.

Whether 992 RS ends up a world beater and exorbitantly priced or becomes recognized as GT division's first misstep in decades, all roads lead back to 991.2 RS being a good buy right now imo, which was my primary point.

From a person who owns an 8k mile McLaren for 7 years now - I can tell you I've had zero problems except for a thermostat - which was fixed. McLaren's quality is not at the top - they could do better. But the cars themselves are incredible. Lightweight, high amounts of power. Pure engineering perfection - and built for the track. I admire that my warranty included track days as long as I pre/post inspected it... officially - not the look the other way most manufacturers do if they do that at all.

Enjoy it - I love McLarens but I've bitten the 911 bug and my financials keep me in that space vs the supercar game.
