Its a great car but the market has spoken in regards to the miles vs price in my opinion. If it was sub 5k miles it would be a different story.

Agree. That's a 'I don't want to sell it' price. Been there before myself. This time I just opted to take what the dealer offered me for my 991.1. Now they're sitting on it. :-)

yea i've decided i'm going to take a back seat and move to the sidelines while dealers get a little more realistic. i'm not expecting things to go back to '19 but asking $40-60k over msrp for well specced 4 year old cars just seems silly to me

Don't begrudge anyone for wanting a fair deal but wondering the thinking on Porsche MSRP as a meaningful reference point anymore.

997 RS are anywhere from 2-3x MSRP. Base 992 still ~100k over in used market, allocations next to impossible, no adm the exception. 992 RS will be 100-250k (?) over.

991.2's are 40-60k over as you suggest, or less. Can we point to better automotive performance/value for the money? Evidence that the 991.2's are mispriced? Know we can point to numerous autos that seem drastically overpriced in relation to 991.2.

Can see how macroeconomic factors might get us to ~MSRP or less in the near- to mid-term.

But also how 991.2 values could check out. Inflation remains rampant in the supply chain, Germans are looking for firewood. Preuninger alluded to the idea that bringing the 992 RS to fruition involved major resistance. The hybrid/electric future is drawing closer as production potentially stagnates. Progress between 991.2 and 992, both base and (especially) RS, genuinely open to interpretation.

If instead of the anticipated drop we see 991.2 RS prices, for example, in the 275-325k range instead of 175-225k, that probably wouldn't be surprising. Depends upon if market collapse or ownership experience/long-term value win out.

Just some potential countervailing thoughts for those on the sidelines. Good luck to all enthusiasts. Pretty tough time to make the call to be in/out, but 991.2 ownership really does live up to the hype. Can always just buy in, enjoy, and hedge GT3 w/ short Nasdaq (not investment advice!… )

California stated no more ICE cars in 2035…..then Buttgig said it should be a federal/50 state policy. The European Union might mandate it as well. Maybe Porsche moves ICE production to Dubai?!?! Lol

i dont disagree. hence why i was in the market all along but this is a big purchase for me. i'm not looking to 'steal' one but decided to hold out hope they come back closer to msrp. i would feel very comfortable and think that is possible over winter

in my spreadsheet i was using to keep track of all that cars, what i would notice that 2/3 of the higher spec cars had been for sale since june. few examples:
https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ngId=648760833
https://finder.porsche.com/us/en-US/...reowned-9VN5P2
https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ngId=648528888
https://finder.porsche.com/us/en-US/...reowned-8DQM73
https://finder.porsche.com/us/en-US/...reowned-P6QE6O

i feel like if thats really what the market was those cars would be flying off the shelves. maybe wishful thinking on my part

What do you guys think is reasonable for a 991.2 RS (non WS)?

ive seen 2 WP cars with greater than 5000 miles sell for almost $40k over MSRP from dealers....one white, one silver. Green should be cheaper.

I tend to agree. These prices are not sustainable long term. A lot of this demand was created from all the free money during the pandemic - PPP, stimulus, bitcoin, stock market etc. Also a lot of this has to do with the YOLO effect. Now that the YOLO crowd has lived their life to the fullest, spent all their money, crashed & burnt on bitcoin and the stock market things will cool off.

Again, just an alternative viewpoint -- don't believe you're describing a typical GT3 buyer. There are some, yeah, but for every YOLO buyer would guess there are many well heeled enthusiasts and Porschephiles.

the real YOLO cars aren't crashing yet.

There is some downward pressure on the 991 market right now. Excess supply and not a ton of movement, you guys are correct. But if enthusiasts get the sense the timing is right and the window on ownership at these price points is closing, that excess inventory won't last long. Have seen it happen before with various models. Don't be fooled by the financial downturn, there's still plenty of money out there.

I am in the market and there are a lot of WP cars listed for less than that and they are not selling. Are you sure they were genuine sales and not dealer to dealer games?

I like your WP RS as it’s a great spec but BaT is the best place to sell and you saw the outcome. No one wants to pay $40K over for an RS
