What did you do with your 987 today?

On Saturday I made the return trip back to KC and again, took the long route so I could pick up our new dog from the rescue service in Oklahoma. Made sure to include the Pig Trail Scenic Byway in Arkansas (100% recommended). Left Atlanta at 2am, covered 1120 miles and was home in KC around 7pm. Won't be a surprise to anyone here but I love showing off how much stuff I can fit in the Boxster to non Porsche people.

Finally upgraded to Numeric cables. I was on the same set of cables for SEVEN YEARS and starting to get nervous.

My 2007 has the original cables. 43k miles. Not worried about them.
Eventually I may upgrade. But I think I’m done with upgrades and instead will focus on enjoying it.
Until I can get my 911 that is.

He is referring to shifter cables - the originals tend to snap at some time. Fore replacement there are upgraded cables (with upgraded bracket) that come from 981 model or you can also go aftermarket route with Numeric ones. However, not everyone is happy with extra vibration and noise they bring due to lack of rubber in them, however, the advantage is more direct shifting feel and durability.

Jeffrey - there's little I can add to what @Smudo said in the above.
This is the work that I did a few weeks ago when I upgraded to the new OE shifter cables and updated bracket and lever. An alternative path is to keep the original bracket and lever and upgrade to the more robust Numeric shifter cables.

After 168 LOOOOOOONG days, I took the cover off this sweet little ride....and got it out for a couple drives this evening!!
The weather has finally stabilized, and the rocks and sand are decently tolerable.. My goodness, it was like driving it for the first time again! So amazing! I love this car..

Any chance you applied the Siless to the wheel wells and have some thoughts to share? Weather is finally warming up and took my new to me '10 CS out the other day and was a bit surprised by the road noise coming in to the cabin. I'm all for adding more exhaust and induction noise, but was quite shocked by the unwanted noises. Would definitely do this if it makes any improvement. Thanks

Changed the oil. Way to go me!
Seriously though, I hate changing the oil on this car (2012 Cayman), I find it basically impossible to remove the oil filter without dumping oil all over the place. I picked up a trick to put cardboard around it so the oil gusher goes straight down, still makes a mess, but at least most of it misses the car.
Why I post is while I was under there I noticed I'm missing a header bolt, the one closest to the oil filter. I have no idea why and no idea how long it's been gone for. I'm not sure if I would have noticed it last year when I was changing the oil or not. I've never had the headers off, I have no reason to believe the headers were off in the first 6 years of the cars life. Maybe my indy had them off to help install the new shift cables a couple of years ago?
Anyways, why I bring it up is I want to ask is it OK to drive the car as I wait for a replacement bolt to arrive?
