What did you do to/with your 987/981 today?
I scanned the 600 most recent posts in this forum, and didn't find this thread - which surprised me. Almost every forum I'm on has one.
So - since I didn't find one - here it is. If one exists and someone can point me to it - I'll happily merge the two threads.
I'll kick it off in the next post.

Painted Console
My '09 base is Carrara White outside and the deep blue (Sea Blue?) that's really close to black (at least to my eyes). I always felt it look a bit like a blue-pit inside. Something you might fall into and be consumed by the blue.
My first step to toning down the blue were some cocomats - blue with white checks. Big improvement, can see where my feet are now.
The car came with the roll-bars painted body color - so it just seemed natural to me that I follow the "Design Series" (aka lets put some lipstick on this pig and move it out..) and have a Carerra White console. I spent a lot of time trying to find a console to use - but even though I could find them for less than $200 - shipping on them is silly expensive due to the size of the box needed to pack them. Overall costs just to get the console would be around $300. Then getting it professionally painted - maybe $200 in Porsche paint or a well matched custom paint color. So - I was looking at $500, plus the work involved in swapping them, and the chance of scratching the newly painted console while installing it. Good idea that wasn't coming to fruition. Then I spotted a bogus ad for a console painted in Carerra white (it was priced WAY too cheap to be real), and I did a Google search on the photos used in the posting - and found the original post they came from, which also included the name of a shop here in NJ that not only paints them - but also installs them. Then I deleted the bogus ad (it wasn't in the Marketplace BTW..)
So I contacted Yurri of PolarAuto and asked about his console painting service. It turns out Yurri runs a Porsche independent shop offering mechanical services and customization in the south Jersey woods, and as part of his customization offerings he does consoles. After several email exchanges, and my offering up my worn-out kidney (no one was interested..) for auction, I finally had enough disposable cash (cash that doesn't NEED to be spent, but I WANT to spend it..) to order one up. Turns out Yurri has "cores" - he's collected various consoles that he keeps in stock to paint to order, then when you install it (or he installs it in my case) you return the core and it gets to be used for another enthusiasts car.
I had Yurri install it - because he said he's literally done hundreds of them.. so he has a technique. And if it got scratched installing it - well that would be Yurii's problem (it didn't - install was PERFECT) and I'm old and not as flexible or strong as I used to think I was, so to me - there simply isn't the fun anymore doing this sort of job, and since it was disposable cash - why not spread it around a bit and give a guy probably being hit by the Covad virus some business. So - that's what I did. I thought I'd share the before/after:
Before - Still a blue pit.
After - even nicer with the match to the floor-mats.
Before - Blue Pit
After - IMHO much nicer!

Merging..
Interesting - after merging them, suddenly a lot of entries showed up for the last 6 months. I have no idea why they didn't, and the thread didn't show up when I looked for it, but hopefully it will be OK now. Never know with RennList..

I did a 2 x 2.5 hour sprint down the Columbia Valley Gorge into the belly of the smoke beast.
Even with air recycling on and new cabin air filters, I was still breathing smoke in the car. I drove air filters, a freestanding HEPA air purifier and goodies to wife's son to protect baby lungs under Air Quality of 460.
My new plugs, coils and stereo worked great. It was nice having Waze up, proper integrated bluetooth phone and streaming music instead of the old CDR24.

Ordered a Sprint Booster for the 987 BS.
I'm anxious to give this gizmo a whirl.

Brakes and spark plugs on the 987.2 today. Originals were only 20k miles old but cheap insurance and gave me something to do in the garage on a nice sunny fall afternoon.
