hoping someone will spoon feed me the part numbers im looking for.
at some point in time, the plastic surround the steering column was trimmed, and therefore looks rough. im looking for the top cover, but also the lower cover to delete the cruise control stalk as well. thanks in advance RL braintrust

Silly question for real, but how deep do the output shaft seals (axle seals) have to go on the G50? Flush to the case, they were very close to rubbing on the stubs, so I pushed them in maybe 1-2mm. How deep should they go in?

Dry sump question
I am new to Porsche and dry sump systems and I cannot understand why the oil must be checked with the engine running. My simple brain says the oil going into the tank must equal the oil flowing out of the tank otherwise the tank would over-fill or run empty. If that is true, then the oil level should remain the same with the engine stopped or with the engine running. Clearly I am missing something. Can someone enlighten me?

If I drain the oil from the engine and oil tank per the normal oil change procedure.
How long can I leave that car sit with no oil in it?
Asking as I need to replace the thermostat to filter line and I'm thinking of refurbing the oil tank at the same time plus It could take a while to get the oil line rebuilt.

Dean, before you drain the oil, ensure that the thermostat is open by running it past 9pm on the temp gauge. That way you get the maximum oil out before you start pulling stuff apart.
