I ordered these parts recently for my 993, and to replace the lower housing in my 964 which had a red horn button drilled into it. Part nos. 96455227301 and 96455227503, but it has the hole for the cruise control stalk.

M454 is for the cruise control, M562 denotes the airbag model, M659 is for the on board computer option in the tach. So you want the one without the M454 and M659 options if you only want turn and wiper stalks.

Silly question for real, but how deep do the output shaft seals (axle seals) have to go on the G50? Flush to the case, they were very close to rubbing on the stubs, so I pushed them in maybe 1-2mm. How deep should they go in?

Default Dry sump question

I am new to Porsche and dry sump systems and I cannot understand why the oil must be checked with the engine running. My simple brain says the oil going into the tank must equal the oil flowing out of the tank otherwise the tank would over-fill or run empty. If that is true, then the oil level should remain the same with the engine stopped or with the engine running. Clearly I am missing something. Can someone enlighten me?

I’m hoping someone could help me with finding a part number for the clips that hold this plastic trim in place. Mine are both missing and I can’t seem to find them on Pelican.

Sorry about the first attempt at inserting an image. You need item 9 and the rubber washers. Check your model year as these parts did change.

Does a 993 pedal box fit a 964 C4, or am I out of luck if I want a splined clutch pedal rod?

If I drain the oil from the engine and oil tank per the normal oil change procedure.
How long can I leave that car sit with no oil in it?

Asking as I need to replace the thermostat to filter line and I'm thinking of refurbing the oil tank at the same time plus It could take a while to get the oil line rebuilt.

No rush as long as you don't try to start the engine. I had my engine drained while replacing the oil lines, thermostat and oil cooler. The engine was "empty" for quote a while. If memory serves, it was 6-8 weeks.

Dean, before you drain the oil, ensure that the thermostat is open by running it past 9pm on the temp gauge. That way you get the maximum oil out before you start pulling stuff apart.

Thanks John. 2 more stupid questions.

Does the car have to be level to drain the Oil?

How long do you have before the thermostat shuts on a cool day?

I'm probably over thinking the whole thing!
