My guess is that it is an under tray mount which bolts to the trans case.

I had a similar piece given back to me by my transmission rebuilder. He wasn’t sure if it was mine. I never found a home for it and don’t use an undertray.

Ok I've been on my back staring @ both sides of the tranny & dont see a mounting point that this pc mates with.
I will side w/the majority here an assume it's an engine tray mount which I have no desire to install. Thanks for all your input.

Definitely the under tray mount. It mounts to the underside of the engine near the tranny. I would leave it off.

Don't know if this qualifies as a "silly question" , but here goes. This little cover on the side of the trans had a bracket that I removed. When I drained the trans fluid, I descided to replace the gasket (which was almost non existent...just scraped off what was left) & cleaned the surface. Sourced a new gasket & torqued both nuts to 17ft lbs. It has been leaking ever since (see the drop in the pic). Never leaked before....go figure. Suggestions ?

Is it possible that the cover got reversed when reinstalled? If so, try rotating the cover around the other way as it may be slightly warped.

That's a possibility, ill also check the gasket fitment by flipping it over to see if it makes a difference.
Of course as soon as I remove the cover 1/2 the trans fluid will drain out.....fun times.

The fluid in there now is fresh (Delvac) so back in it goes. Thanks for the generous offer Rob.

It's only fresh if you drained it into a clean bucket...lol.

Indeed, clean is the name of the game. Hate the smell of that stuff, even when it's new...
