Directions sound enough to program my sat nav (will have to double check if we've the name of the hotel !).

Rather than incur any legal liability upon yourself Steve, suggest anyone not experienced with the needs of what to have in/on the car when driving in Europe visit the attached website

particularly this link,

http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice...equipment.html

NOTE the warning about on the spot fines for no warning triangle or high-vis jacket in France.....a small, but significant part of our journey both ways!!!

Ian (ARAF) is putting me up (or should that be, putting up with me ). He lives near Dover. I've sent you a PM.

I'm booked, and I've told the other guys who have larger than average engines, to compensate for deficiencies in the trouser dept.

Most of us are coming back on the Sunday, so we've booked/are booking the 1850 train on the way back, which will mean we can spectate at Spa on the Sunday until lunchtime.

For those going to the Nurburgring on the Sunday, the following is a pleasant route, that we have often used from the hotel in the past. I warn you though, I did get nicked once for doing 160kph on the country roads, so keep your eyes peeled.

From the front of the hotel, turn and head up the N62 to the T Junction. Turn Right (N632) for Waimes, Butgenbach, Bullingen, and follow the road until you come to Losheimergraben. Turn left here and follow the sweeping road through the forest towards Hellenthal (265). You cross the border into Germany on this road, as you will note by the massive improvement in the road surface. There are also some lovely, sweeping downhill bends. Carry on along the 265 until you reach Schleiden. At the main traffic lights in town, turn right onto the 258 towards Blankenheim. Stay on the 258, which joins the 51, and then alternates between 2 and 3 lanes (total) so that trucks can be overtaken. (it was just before the 51 that I got nicked) There's a junction at the top of one hill (at Blankenheim), with a big Aral petrol garage. Turn right here. The garage used to sell 100 octane fuel, I don't know if they still do. Now you are back on the 258, and you can follow it all the way to the 'ring.

If you're interested in using it, pull the route up on Google, to familiarise yourself with it, and fill in any blanks. Really fun on a bike, and not much worse in a car.

Looking good Grant.

BTW I've just been on the BaT website and booked an instruction slot. I managed to get an early one on Saturday to set me up for the weekend. Anyone else thinking of instruction best get on the website soon because a lot of the slots have already been booked.

I was hoping to join you at Spa but it is looking unlikely at this stage - necessary austerity measures after a recent house move have led to a much reduced track day budget.

Sorry to hear that James. The Saturday at Spa is now sold out but plenty of space for Sunday if things change for you.

Steve, you've probably already covered this - what are the noise restrictions at Spa and the ring again?

Cheers

107 db at Spa. No one with a normal car has a noise problem there. I don't think they test noise at the 'ring but even if they do now I've not heard of people being stopped for noise.
