Will any of you be staying near Nurburg on the Saturday night? I'm planning on doing Techno Classica on the Saturday, and it's very tempting to head down to join you guys at the Ring on the Sunday!
Come join! Although I believe we're going back to Spa for the night - IIRC!

Nice! Picture? I like a pair of these, they're soft soled classic drivers shoes - let's you feel everything. Although mine are a replica version, the real things are eye watering! Ad a pair of leather racing gloves and you should be in a 60s Porsche!

Thinking about plans for tyres.

Normally on a UK track day I'll take a spare set of wheels and run whichever wheels have least tread remaining on the track leaving some good tyres to get home on.

My current tyres are v old but have plenty of tread so will cope with the journey OK, but they will most likely get destroyed around Spa.

Thinking of getting some cup 1 reps and putting some fairly sticky tyres on em, but don't see being able to do that for less than a grand.

Not even sure about fitting 4 wheels + me in the 964, thoughts?

I'd take one set with you - having said that would be comical seeing 4 wheels and tyres squash into a 964!

I can't speak more highly of YOKO AD08s, great on and off track. Deep tread so deal with standing water and rain incredibly well. Not so soft that they won't last and not loud...

PS. I have a set of Cup1 reps I'm looking to sell, they come with road tyres which are half worn... cosmetically two of them have surface scuffs.

Where there's a will there's a way!

In all seriousness, I'll be travelling with my track wheels on which have just had a new set of Toyo R888s fitted. The good thing about track tyres is that they will take a lot more hammer than road tyres. The set I just took off lasted for 2 years of track days.

For track wheels you don't need cup wheels. You can pick up early boxster wheels or 996 C4 wheels for about £300 a set. The tyres will be about £800.

I did Spa last time on my Conti road tyres....they seemed to cope ok, but obviously don't give the grip levels of a track tyre.

May well put my 888's back on my Cups, but will leave deciding till after I've had my HRE's refurbed (already got a set of Yoko's for them!!!!)

What are you two like!

I've only just got around to buying some (karting) gloves for use in the Westfield (though I'm tempted to try them out at Spa

I've been using Karting gloves for a while now. Much better than bear hands. No worries about losing the wheel to sweaty palms.

I returned the bear hand gloves I bought, whilst they completed my Fozzie Bear racesuit and Helmet combo, I just couldn't get on with them on track.
