Hello all,
I am one of the members who bought into the initial run (2019) of parts for the 07K swap, and unfortunately due to lack of time and budget, my project has since stalled out. I have a bellhousing (+ parts), modified oil pan (+ parts), and one of the very first runs of engine mounts/valve cover/oil adapter kits. Everything is still in the boxes they came in, and the hardware/seals/etc are all still vacuum bagged from when I received it all. Being one of the early kits, there are some items missing that you would need to complete the swap that had not yet been produced; the intake, rear coolant flange, and thermostat housing adapter from what I remember (there may be more). Attached are pictures of what I have. If anyone is interested, I would be looking to get 2700 for all of it. I figured I'd post here before going straight to the classifieds.
Thanks

Check my math here - if I drop this kit into a 968 I can or cannot use my existing torque tube? Will I need to swap to a 944 style tube?
**Edit: After reading the BBG page for the 37th time I see this line "This kit is designed to bolt the VW 07K engine onto the stock cross member and torque tube of any 944 or 968."

Just starting to consider this type of project.

Will I be able to use the original speedometer with the Haltech? Assuming so, but worth asking

This Haltech come with maps to at least get me started?

From the BBG Haltech description:
  • Direct Plug & Play w/ VW Sensors
  • High Quality Materials and Connectors
  • All Connectors Permanently Marked
  • Includes Tach Output w/ Male & Female Universal Connector
  • Includes Connector f/ Optional Fuel & Oil Press. Sending Units
  • Easy OEM Gauge Integration f/ Porsche 944
Yeah, it will work with the speedo. It's supposed to be just like the previous ECU they offered from Performance Engineering. Not sure why they switched to Haltech but I'm kind of glad they did.

This is interesting news, I had not heard of PE before the inception of this 07K swap package a couple of years ago, but thought it was cool they were working with a US-based company. Not sure what happened there, but Haltech is a well-regarded company that should be known by any prominent tuner in the US, so that is a good thing. I already have a VEMS ECU for my existing 951 engine, which would probably be OK for an 07K upgrade, but I would not be opposed to upgrading to a more modern standalone ECU.

As ever, my issue is being in California and the legal barrier of the 07K swap for a street car . . .

ECS sources all theirs from Audi who doesn't have any in stock and doesn't know when more will be manufactured . Didn't think they'd be this hard to come by.
Does it fit in the later ones? 2012-2014 iron block.

question - why worry about finding a hens-teeth rare crank?
has anyone broken the stock iron 07K crank?

the internet glorifies big power numbers, but 400hp will scare the pants off of 99% of people. and its already bordering on unusable power for a street 944.

I'm aiming for 6-700 in the engine.

Stock crank is supposed to be good for 600 tq. That’s like 800 hp.

Small top port on the thermostat housing, don't see any mention of what to do with this pesky hole and the metal pipe that went to it. How are you all addressing this? Planning on not utilizing heat, just water cooled turbo running from iabed oil block and then back to T coming from 3/4" engine bypass tube. Thank you for the help.

tap and plug or cut the pipe to a short stub and weld it shut.

Thanks Mike that's what I figured.

Where do you route the expansion tank ports to? Steam vent from rear coolant flange and bottom port to radiator?
