VW/Audi 07K (2.5L 20V I5) Swap Thread

Some irrelevant trivia: If I'm looking at the right car, that is the 5000 (aka 200) that Bobby Unser drove to a closed-course speed record of 206 mph. I guess the record was for production based AWD cars, but not sure.
Runners look cast, FWIW.

My goodness that sounds good, almost like it's just itching to scream at 7000 rpm 😁 starts nicely, looks like the clutch is working well. If it hasn't blown up yet I'd say y'all have got something good!!

whew...this is really something. incredible work guys - this is the only swap that has made me interested, I'm beating myself up for not logging into rennlist for months after expressing interest in the group buy. The hunt for another 944 to put this into continues.

Awesome intake manifold!
Your intake is gorgeous, Patrick; both in design and execution! Incredible work. How about an update on your car/engine? It looks like you've made great progress.

Thanks Spencer. The engineer at PE said, "looking at the data, this motor is super snappy. Should be a blast to drive." And it sounds absolutely wicked in person.

Might have to go that route. The carbon filled nylon should have been good to around 300F, so not sure what happened. Potentially an air pocket that over pressurized when the temp shot up?

I think you mentioned in the video a thermo fan switch failed? Shouldn’t the 07K ecu trigger the fans? Shouldn’t the dyno fans provide plenty of air flow for cooling if the rad fans failed? I can’t imagine rad fans are going to keep up to WOT anyway. It was late when I watched the video so I may have misunderstood. Sounds like you caught it early and shut it down, so hopefully just some minor fixes and good to go. Better to find issues on the dyno than street or track. Keep plugging away.
