Sweet throttle cable bracket. Will that be included with the manifold?
Also.... Speaking of videos..... @hinton what's on the menu for YouTube tomorrow?

I'm really hoping for some flames to go with the sound from that short exhaust!

My guess is 205hp/190tq. I feel like opening up the airways should bump it up a bit over the factory numbers.

Has there been any updates or ETA on the intake manifolds? Haven't heard anything on those in a while.

Thanks! We whipped this one up out of square tube. The intake will come with something a little more elegant but I’m happy with the way this came out!

Tomorrows video will be the start of Alan’s turbo build. Hopefully next week will be the dyno video, but I’m out of town for work so we shall see.

We are waiting for the second sample to come in. They are actively working on it but we don’t have an ETA just yet. Once we get it and confirm all is well we can get a production run on order.

Here is a plastic option from Old Air, looks like similar to what Alan found.

I have found a slightly less expensive radiator option, but everything custom comes in around $950. The only other option is to use an available 944 radiator or fit in a larger off the shelf one like Alan. Using a performance 944 radiator (Lindsey etc.) may or may not cool the high end of power goals here, but if some are willing to fit in a lower radiator hose that runs to the passenger side it would save a few hundred bucks. A 944 radiator could also reuse the 944 shroud and fans (something I personally want to replace with a modern/less expensive Spal brushless).

If there is some consensus from the group on which radiator I’d be willing to buy one and work out the mounting scheme to the car and intercooler. Votes on radiator?

Griffin makes a 16x24 Chevy radiator for about 200 and will customize it for about 600. I asked not too long ago about removing the filler neck and changing rad port sizes to match 944 hoses and that was the answer i got.

So, what about using the stock 944 radiator? Would it probably be large enough for a base NA scenario?

Thats what I’m doing, but lower rad hose is on the “wrong” side

The real question is how much cooling do we really need? Griffin quoted me $950 for a 24x13.5, both ports on left (so 2-pass) two mounting feet, and core designed for 525hp with AC condenser and intercooler in the upstream airflow. I’m not a fan of overspending, but I also don’t want to bash in the bottom of a tall radiator or spend all kinds of time and money to have it overheat.

I wonder if a standard 944/951 radiator with an electric coolant booster pump to increase flow rate would do the trick? The booster could be used as an after-run pump to cool the turbo like the 951 etc... ?

Any stock water pump should be sufficient without an electric booster.

You can get by with a smaller rad if you have a mega-fan.

If you want a 13x24 rad with port on the other side, use a 1988 VW golf rad.

Stock 944 fans can be easily adapted with little brackets...i made some for a few bucks earlier this year to use this rad on my 944.

I will be the test for the NA rad on an NA engine.

The factory 944 and 951 radiators are really nice when in good shape, just depends on how much crap is trapped in them after all these years. The 07K uses smaller coolant hoses / connections, so the factory rads may be fine.

Until we get some cars on track i wouldn’t go nuts with radiators. Obviously your car, your money and your decision, just giving my .02.

I would agree for NA the stock 944 rad with stock 07k water pump should do the trick. Thanks for the tip on the golf rad, good option for simpler plumbing.

With three times the stock power I’m not sure how the 944 rads will cope. Heavy duty fan will help up to about 40mph, after that it’s all down to coolant flow rate and surface area and ambient temp. Where is the typical threshold for big power 951 or LS swapped cars with the stock rad?

Craig
