Quite likely we did. Sorry, it's hard to retain all the info in my tiny brain.

Yeah it seems backward, but when you think of it, virtually nobody spends buckets of money on these cars to do the 1/4 mile. Usually it's to make them a nice cruiser / hwy blaster or track focused. Plus when you spend that cash and get over 400whp you are going to stress those aforementioned Achilles heels in the drivetrain even more...unless you spend even more on the car and modify them. Domino theory for an event that most of us aren't that interested in. Sure we're all curious, but I want to turn times in a different race. The track is where these cars shine. Pulling on a 996tt is a lot of fun let me tell you after you've stalked him through the corners.

Allright, so I went back to the track tonight on my quest to elevens. Car was running really strong with new plugs and some tweaking.
I got some BFG drag radials for the club sports. On the street car was hooking up much better.

The new track at PBIR really hooks. Everybodys running personal bests on the new surface.
So I take off kinda easy in the first gear, then nail it in second. Hits the rev limiter, I'm thinking it can't be spinning. It didn't.

The Spec stage 3 hybrid couldn't take the abuse.
After the second run I just went home, no need to abuse it more.
I didn't think the clutch would give up that easy, it's supposed to hold 450 ft/lb.

Thinking back, I should have tried running low boost in first and second, then full in third.
Just so frustrating not being able to make a run all out.
I'm not giving up though.

damn I thought spec clutches were notorous for being able to withstand abuse. A stage 3 is supposed to be one stout clutch.

What do you mean by hybrid? btw sorry to hear about you're troubles.

Pressure plate side of the disc is metallic, organic flywheel side.
Better for the street.
It's allright, I'll get there.

As the Tool said before. Anything less than ceramic won't handle any strong horsepower numbers. I agree.

Does ceramic have to be puk though? Or better, do we have to have a puk clutch to handle 500whp?

My stage 2 spec has shown no signs of slipping with 400+ whp/tq.. It is kevlar. All my launches done on it it just grabbed and those were clutch drops at 4000+ rpm with drag radials (I have the best believable 60' on the list, sorry don't buy that 1.60 for a second.) I will be interested to see how it does as power increases. But I think its got some left in it.
