SOMEONE PLEASE SAVE THIS CAR. An 86.5, decent paint/interior, no rub strip car for under 9k seems ok to me. Might even be Prussian Blue. Whoever owns it now does not value it at all.

I would if I could fit another one in my stables.
that looks like a lot of car for the money …

Who's S4 is this on Bat?

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...che-928-s4-50/

Crank-end Play is documented as 0.06mm. New spec is 0.06 to 0.19 mm.

'91 manual GT on BAT: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...sche-928-gt-9/

I think there are some real questions. CarFax shows the car passed inspection in 2012 with 513 miles on the odo, which is obviously wrong from the service records at the end of the pix.. There is reported 'wear' on the shift **** with current mileage of 37K miles. Lots of service records, but only 2 within the past ~15 years that I saw. in the 418 pictures. From my pretty quick scan of service, coolant was changed in 2005 and again in 2008, but not since then. Anybody wonder how long the car sat in the garage between drives, and therefore what the condition of the heads might be???

Beautiful color combination, Great looking car. Probably go for high $, but it also might need some serious maintenance $ to accompany it for long future usage.

Nice looking shark, and it was vetted+sold on BaT 4 years ago. Should fetch more than $20k. To me, I'd think that you'd want to improve that listing by at least mentioning that it has the larger+stronger torque converter as well as 4-wheel-steering.

And that it is the same model that Tom Cruise drove in Risky Business, which is a greater film than Bullitt, and that that car sold for nearly 2 million.

Things that 928 geeks think are meaningless could prove to actually be valuable to Buyers who come in from outside the insular ranks...

Houston doctor, I don't think he's on RennList but he's a member of our Houston Google Group. The car looked pretty clean to me.

Actually as a 928 geek myself, I would pay a premium for things that the insular ranks would never care about, i.e. intensive wiper option, flip-up wing, etc. But you never know what drives a sale since you can't go back in time and resell it with a different listing.

The presentation by the current owner is much nicer than the first time it was on BaT. And he did some nice upgrades. I hope it fetches $20K+ because that's good for everyone. But based on what previous '89 S4 autos have sold for on BaT, and with 146K miles on the clock, I see this one going for around $13K plus or minus $2K.

IMO, once the coolant 'goes bad' it is better for the heads if the engine is not run rather than 'warmed up once per <insert time unit>.

I've done the crank end play check a 'few' times. Never, ever, have I measured 0.06mm. Not once. At this mileage a measurement of 0.2X mm is expected for a well-maintained M28/42. The best I've seen with a >100k-mile S4 is .19 mm.

I remain skeptical of the 0.06mm.

I think the car was mentioned to me about 2-3 years ago by a fellow 928 friend here on Rennlist and the owner was asking for good money (maybe $50k?, not completely sure), but I passed since I was expected to also pay for a 10% commission fee for the referral. It is beautiful and already made it to $40k. However, only 4k miles in 13 years since the last TB/WP and the belt should be replaced asap when the new owner picks it up.

I see anywhere from $15-45k in catch up maintenance (depending on the heads of course).

Cool. I think that anything above $15k for that example will reflect the market's upturn post RB928. I think that your estimate is spot-on for pre-RB928 valuation.

Looks to me this GT was parked on a damp floor. The underside does not reflect the low mileage that the interior does.

Whoa...big jump up to $18K already! Time for me to update my Agreed-Value with my State Farm Agent!
