@Captain_Slow has a very nice 88 Venetian Blue auto FS...if it's still available.

It's going to take time for 928 culture to adjust to the higher valuations post RB928. New world now.

+1.
Would not believe if this car would not be already sold, but worth looking for sure...
Well maintained and a very nice car.
This is the car.

Long gone. I checked with him several months ago and it was sold already.

I think there are some real questions. CarFax shows the car passed inspection in 2012 with 513 miles on the odo, which is obviously wrong from the service records at the end of the pix.. There is reported 'wear' on the shift **** with current mileage of 37K miles. Lots of service records, but only 2 within the past ~15 years that I saw. in the 418 pictures. From my pretty quick scan of service, coolant was changed in 2005 and again in 2008, but not since then. Anybody wonder how long the car sat in the garage between drives, and therefore what the condition of the heads might be???

Beautiful color combination, Great looking car. Probably go for high $, but it also might need some serious maintenance $ to accompany it for long future usage.

Gary
Maybe we should start a new thread--e.g., BAT: Post-sale Report--so we can see how much hidden repairs and/or deferred maintenance happens AFTER as BAT auction for one of these low-mileage, high-cost beauties. What do you think?

At least you gave an estimate ahead of time for that sale. I notice that the Usual Suspects are suspiciously quiet about it. No doubt they will later complain that I just had another "lucky guess" once that auction ends.

Well I don't know about you, but I'm into the hobby because it's fun. It's fun to debate about values and what influences them, but I could care less about being right or wrong. I've never been much of an "I told you so" guy.

Must be another lucky guess...

Anyway, the interesting thing is more than the final price, but rather that at least 5 different bidders went hard for the 928 at the end, which means that 4 of them lost out, yet still have the cash to buy and the desire to buy a similar S4 example... which impacts future pricing.

The car is nice and has a 6k interior, but I'm still surprised at how high it went given the miles.

Everyone acts like we're still back in 2019... instead of a post-Covid 2021 where one 928 just sold for $2 Million and the Fed is desperately pulling $1 Trillion+ out of our economy with each reverse repo as if they can stave off inflation forever. Gonna be a lot of shocked faces seeing the stock market in 3 months.

I still see no indication monetarily or culturally that the typical 928 is going to skyrocket the way even basket case 911s did 10 years ago. Will there be some appreciation? Sure. There are always going to be a handful of cars and a handful of buyers that kick the curve up, but those guys with the mid-mileage good-condition driver and the speculators with the lots full of parts cars are going to be disappointed.

You want to see some appreciation? An unmolested Fox-body Mustang is going to be worth a small fortune in a few years. It's tough to find one now.

i agree, the best 928 will never bring what the 911 does, never has, never will
